Now, it’s time to proceed to follow all the list of essential pre requisites which you need to follow before proceeding to the procedure in the next page. Please note that it’s very important to follow these pre requisites so as to ensure that the device is rooted successfully and safely too.

Essential Pre Requisites:

  • Backup all the data present in your Dell Streak 7 ONLY with the help of below mentioned tips. Please don’t backup the data using the PC Suites as after rooting it may or may not get detected in the phone.

Text messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Phone Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Pictures, Music, Videos, Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Notes – Manually you need to note down or need to transfer to Evernote.

  • Now, enable the USB Debugging in your device from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Device should be charged with at least of 60% of battery life so as to ensure that it doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of rooting process.

USB Debugging

  • Disable all the Security suites as well as Firewall tools in your computer. Apart from that you need to uninstall all the security suites in your Streak 7 as these tools tend to interrupt the process of firmware rooting.

Note: If you are on any of the custom firmwares or any of the beta firmwares then you need not follow this article as your device is already rooted.

So, assuming that you have followed all the instructions mentioned above, it’s time now to proceed to next page where we have summed the procedure to root.

I continually get stuck on step #7 in the Superoneclick with the following error message:

    mount -o rw,remount /dev/APP /system > /data/local/tmp/output 2>&1

    export TEMPRANDOM=63780

    export PS1=END:$TEMPRANDOM;cat /data/local/tmp/output

    mount: Operation not permitted

    END:63780

This doesn’t work at all. I’ve successfully rooted my cell phone with the same program, and it just completely freezes with the Dell Streak 7… Left it for 30 minutes and nothing happens.

I truly wish those posting directions such as this would be slightly more specific when it comes to what you need to do. Case in point: I follow the link to the super1click download and it shows the 2.3.3 version, so am I to presume I can’t use an earlier version, like v1.8? I spent over a week trying to get a non-corrupted version of v2.3.3 and just succeeded tonight. Also, all instructions I’ve seen assume your OS auto-magically recognizes your Streak-7. Well, mine did not (Win-7 x64) and the drivers I hunted for and eventually found from Dell did not work either.
Look, most people know how to Google to find a potential resolution to their issue. You could do yourselves a huge favor and get tons more hits if you just included more options in your instructions that relate to different equipment and OS issues. Just a thought
