  • Enable USB Debugging in your Galaxy S2 GT I9100G from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” and then ensure that your phone is left with the minimum battery charge of 60% so as to make sure that ti doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of rooting process.

USB Debugging

  • All the user level data mentioned below should be backed up so that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be easily restored. Its recommended to back up the data with the help of below steps rather than KIES PC Suite.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Close / Disable all the antivirus suites as well as Firewall tools as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.
  • Ensure that the PC which you will be using to Root should have active USB ports so as to ensure that there is no interruption in data exchange.

Hi, First thing, must say thank you for the very easy rooting of my Galaxy Fit from one of your other pages. The next thing is there a similar way of rooting a Galaxy S2?
I know this page explains it, but its just not as straight forward as the one for the Fit. Really all I want to do on the S2 is lighten up some of the stock apps.
    Sorry for my ignorance
Again thank you for the Fit root all the best Mik

Pradeep I see my firmware is XXLPX, I updated using Kies, so this XXLPQ is an older firmware ? I am from India.
