I just used this process and successfully rooted my lg spectrum. it has the current software through verizon, as of 10-18-12. I could not get the process to work through ubuntu on my laptop, but through windows xp this process worked. i had to install the latest LG drivers for windows, though. After pressing enter in the terminal, the phone turned on and off a few times, and had me worried, but everything worked perfectly…

OK here is the way you root your lg spectrum, follow my instruction it will work for you.
Go to : setting- application – check unknown sources box,- development- check usb debugging box – and the last one thing go to back to setting and go to connectivity click on default connection mode and select – internet connection and select modem, and that will do it.

    please help me

  12. Reply chris April 20, 2012 at 9:50 am

it wouldnt work for me either but then i realized the only way for the debugging to be activated is to change the usb connection mode from usb mass storage to internet(modem) then drag extracted files to desktop, double click the adb installer then run the “run” batch file

How many times has the vs920 been rooted with this procedure and failed or caused the phone to be inoperable? im wanting to root my device without having to pay for a new one later. this setup seems to be idiot proof

No go…install united drivers and vzw drivers ….adb is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file…

  21. Reply Steven February 25, 2012 at 4:07 am

I seem to be doing something wrong… I connected the device with Debugging mode enabled, installed the LG drivers, but the command prompt simply says “Waiting for device…”

    • Reply Neela Pradeep April 6, 2012 at 11:24 am

just install the drivers again and try!
