How to Root SONY Xperia ARC S on Latest ICS 4.0.4 Firmware – Tutorial

Xperia arc LogoXperia ARC S smartphone users who have managed to upgrade their device with the latest ICS Android 4.0.4 firmware can now root their device with the help of simple instructions which we will be discussing in the further course of this article. Just in case if you wished to know on what you can do by rooting the device, then we wanted to tell you that once you root the device, you can install several custom ROM firmwares along with the apps which need the rooting access. Also, be informed that this procedure should only be applied to the devices which are having the model name as SONY Xperia ARC S

Note: This article will be of help to only devices which are on the latest ICS Android 4.0.4 firmware release. To check the same on whether your device is on the latest firmware or not, the same can be checked from the path “Settings > About Phone”

Rooting Information: If you root your SONY Xperia ARC S, then the warranty will get void. The only way with which the warranty can be reclaimed is by re applying the official update of ICS 4.0.4 firmware update for which we will try our level best to come up with the article.

Express Pre Requisites:

  • First and foremost ensure that your device is left with the minimum of 50% so that it doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update. Disable all the antivirus apps present in your phone as these tools interrupt the process of rooting.
  • Go to settings > Security > Mark “Unknown sources” and ensure that its ticked. Up next enable the USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Developer options > Mark USB debugging” and also you need to enable the MSC Mode from the path “Settings > Xperia > connectivity > USB connection mode > select MSC mode”.
  • Back up all the data present in your SONY Xperia ARC S so as to ensure that the data doesn’t get lost or corrupted. Just in case if the data gets corrupted or deleted

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
ContactsSync with the Gmail application,
Call Log -Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

    nice tut , but on my SE ARC S – system 4.1.B.0.587 – it’s not working
    befor I had rooted ..462 – worked properly
    How can I root 587 – I tried a few times – no success !!
    PLS HELP

    when downloading kernal my antivirus is blocking stating it contents virus
    Reason : Infected webpage has been detected

    This “quide” of yours DO NOT work!

    At first 2 steps all good.

    But what after????

    U lack instruction, or I lack good sense, couse all what happens is that flash tool says that flashing is done nad that i need to reboot my device….
    and what are u talking about long loading, there is none of it, like there IS NO ROOT.

    So please, explain me what I’m doing wrong, couse I was really happy when i found this guide…. :(((((
