In the view of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, most of us have forgotten that only 20 % of the devices run on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich. And still there are few smart phone waiting for the Ice Cream Sandwich update. The number for Samsung devices just gets one count less as Samsung Captivate Glide on AT & T network gets the Android 4.0 ICS update officially.
Samsung Captivate Glide SGH i927 brings the latest Android platform to the device and this update is available for the smart phone owners from September 7. This device will certainly breathe a new life to the device which is almost forgotten.
The Android 4.0 ICS includes a new type of highly optimized user interface. Many of the new features are included in the browser of the Android 4.0 ICS and this includes the improved page loading speed, offline reading, desktop mode and tabbed browsing. One of the noticed feature of Android 4.0 ICS is the Face unlock feature allowing users to unlock the screen by directly facing your phone to your face. The notification bar got lot easier with the new Recent Apps Shortcut allowing users to swipe between the apps quickly and easily and there is user interface changes as well included in this update.
How to Update
This update to the Captivate Glide is only available via the Samsung KIES PC tool. This update will keep data like pictures, videos and contacts intact and although it remains they are chances of data to get corrupted. You need to back up your data using Samsung KIES itself.
Once you have done that you need to connect your phone to the PC where in Samsung KIES is installed with the latest version and make user the USB drivers are installed as well. Once the device is detected by KIES, it will automatically show you the availability of the update and you need to follow the on screen instructions to apply the same updates to your device. During the process of the update, your phone would be restarted one or two times.
Once the update is done, you can check for the current software version by going through Menu > Settings > About Phone from your home screen. The Baseband version after update should show as I927UCLH2.
