After recently launching the 2016 Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 smartphones in China, today Samsung has officially launched a new variant of the Samsung Galaxy A8 smartphone in Japan with a different processor. The earlier launched Galaxy A8 came with Snapdragon 615 processor in some regions while in some regions it came with Exynos 5430 SoC. The Japanese variant of the smartphone comes with more powerful Exynos 5433 octa-core processor with clocking speed upto 1.9GHz.
Apart from the processor, there is not much difference in the specifications of the new smartphone when compared to earlier models. The new Galaxy A8 features a 5.7-inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full-HD Super AMOLED display offering a pixel density of 386ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection on top of it. The device comes with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage and microSD card slot for expansion upto 128GB.
On the camera front, the device sports a 16MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera to capture perfect selfie images. These are the same set of cameras seen on the flagship Galaxy S6 and Note 5 smartphones. Connectivity options on the dual sim capable device include 4G-LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB port.
The handset comes backed by a 3050mAh battery that can easily last for an entire day on a single charge. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based TouchWiz UI out of the box and will come in Black, White and Gold color variants. The dimensions of the device measure 158 x 76.8 x 6.0 mm and weighs around 153 grams. The smartphone is currently listed on company’s official Japan website without any pricing details.
