Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 – Steps to Install Alpha 7.0 ICS Android 4.0 Firmware
Updates for one of the largest selling smartphone seems unstoppable for Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 as just a couple of days back, a new alpha version of ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 Android firmware has arrived. As per our close sources and as per the recent developments we can now say that the beta version of the Ice Cream Sandwich firmware will soon be released and we will be covering the same only on AndroidAdvices.com. This release of firmware has few things which work while since it is still in the alpha stage, some of the things still don’t function which too we will see in the due course of this article.
Advisory: This update should only be applied to the smart phones which is having the model number as “Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 / I9000B”. If you apply this update in any other phones then the phones will be bricked for which we should not be held responsible. Also, this update should not be applied to the phones which are network locked devices as it will lock the phone again just in case if you have unlocked. This update should not be applied to any other phones apart from this even if they have similar phone model numbers like I9000T etc.
Let’s check out the things which work in this alpha build of Ice Cream Sandwich firmware for your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 below.
Now, after this you need to proceed to follow the list of Pre Requisites which you need to follow before proceeding.
Caution: This article is not for the basic users and is only recommended for the advanced level users or the developers. The install freezes at an image… after I select “ICS_4.0.1_r1-alpha7.zip” the phone install and then phone reboot and freezes at the image (samsung galaxy S GT-i9000 SAMSUNG Enhanced by FuguMod)

Neal i am on the oficial update xfjva 2.3.5 will.it work with this firmware and also are this update with beter wifi and batery backup and ram memory more than 329mo.

xxjvt is better as of now in terms of feedback!
for better ram you need to install XXJVT version!

Hye Neal i have an probleme with the wifi my wifi work well with android 2.3.5 xfjva but today when i connected to my wifi is name is:FreeWifi in france he said that they are obtaining adresses i.p of FreeWifi but this is 45 minutes that i am trying to connect with freewifi but the same message and by the way the other wifi work well i phone to the developoer of freewifi and i say me that there are no probleme with freewifi whplease help neal because i only use freewifi and it s not working with my pc is working!

I restart the phone i select CM7FuguMod_20111124_update-i9000.zip, the phone reboot and block again but after i select “Wipe data/factory reset”, “Wipe Cache partition”, the Alpha 7.0 ICS Android 4.0 is open but no signal, no detect mobile operators.

It took me 5 tries to get the phone to work with ICS.
but it works.. and it looks better than 2.3.5 or the other addon packs..
Lots of default widgets but cant do much with no connectivity..

yes, the only cure is you need to apply with XXJVT Firmware version to restore back to normal version!

available. that’s it, i simply connected & used my Google acct.
BTW, i successfully reverted back to the rooted Gingerbread 2.3.5 XXJVT. manage to backup this rom before giving that

no, its not recommended as its a different phone!
im done with the first file to download in my phone. after it was downloaded it just hanged up. the only thing i see in my phone is the \galaxy s logo w/enhanced by FuguMod\. I will I do
yes it takes quite a time on that screen, if it takes more than 10 minutes then you need to plug out the battery and then you can try again!

I have another problem with this firmware. In my WindowsXP, the phone is no more recognized, he asks for a new driver… and I have no idea where to find it.
The network doesn’t work, the Wifi doesn’t work, I guess the bluetooth as well, the pc connection doesn’t work. How can I install an older firmware if I can’t access neither the phone through the pc or the SD card?
This situation is very frustrating.
you need to be on Win 7+ as in XP some framework files are not there by default and you need to install it manually!
Just update with XXJVT Firmware, you will be able to get back to the old version!

Guys _I have tried my level best to get rid of the firmware Gingerbread XXJVK to Icream Sandwitch but some how I am stuck
may sound dumb but Odin does not work for me no matter what I do.. The minute I connect my phone with a usb cable with my laptop or any other pc I get an error \ The usb is not recognized blah blah blah\ I have installed every possible driver and tried my level best to get this issue fixed I just cant get to Odin and I am going mad and want a new version on my phone
