Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 – Steps to Install Gingerbread 2.3.5 XWJVU Firmware

XWJVU LogoAdvisory: This update is the Official Release for the Portugal and this ROM comes by default in the Portuguese Language. If you decide to go ahead with this ROM and wish to change the language to English then you need to change the language from the “Locale & Text” option which is there in the Settings.

Last time on we saw on how you can update your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 with the XXJVT 2.3.5 Firmware version which was a stable version and now in the due course of this article we will see an all new firmware which is now available in the Samsung Servers and is dubbed as the firmware as XWJVU Gingerbread 2.3.5 version. This update comes as a great respite who wants to update their phones with the latest stock version of the firmware and not with the custom firmwares. We also have one of the largest database of all the custom as well as the Stock ROMs which hardly any other website has it and all this just for you.

Just in case if you missed out the Action then you will be delighted to know that we have covered various articles on How you can update with Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware Android 4.0 version, Jelly bean ROM for Galaxy S and also we saw various other firmwares for your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 device. Over a due course of next few days we will also come up with an article wherein you will be in a position to root the Galaxy S GT I9000 on XWJVU firmware.

Note: Please note that this update is only valid for the users having the device with the model number as Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 and not with any other similar looking models like I9000M/B or T. We will soon come out a custom ROM for you guys only on Android Advices.

Please note that you strictly need to follow the instructions which are mentioned in this site so as to facilitate the smoother and safer firmware update. It has been found that despite mentioning all the instructions carefully, some of the users are not following it thoroughly and such users end up messing or bricking their phones. So, we request you to follow all the instructions properly.

Over a period of this article we will see special pre requisite instructions for users on the Stock ROM and also for the users on the Custom ROM firmwares.

You should have the ADMIN privileges along with the full access of the USB Read / Write access so that all the data can be read / written from / to the phone.

Rooting Information:
For updating with this firmware, it’s not required or a compulsion to root your device. You can apply this update even on a non-rooted phone.

Just in case if you have already rooted the phone then after applying with this update, the rooting process will be revoked after which you can reclaim the warranty and also the lost warranty will be regained.

Hello Neal… Now my phone is on XXJVT, Now I want to go back to my phone’s original firmware which is JPJV6 (arabic) because I am planning to sell my phone and want to buy S-II. The Phone is under warranty, so my doubt is when I downgrade my phone to an older official version using odin with only one PDA file(which I got from your article) will it change CSC and other things came with XXJVT ? Can I use Kies to update the firmware in future ?*** Sorry if I asked the question in wrong place, hope you will give me the answer***

    • NeaL Pradeep

      November 11, 2011 at 12:41 am

yes you can go back to the same! no, if there is only PDA file then just select PDA only, no pit , no csc etc.!

Neal with regards to daniel procedure is it safe? can we do this actually?? Thanks
@Daniel.. thanks dude… the stock ROM is good except of course of the apps i do not use and the bouncing T when you reboot but all is well. The battery seems to work fine.. I manage to have it for almost a day with wi-fi on the last stock rom i have let me do the recharge after six hours of using wi-fi.

For those who wanted a good look try downloading the ICS launcher in the market it simulates the ICS rom and it has cool features too.. try it.. you need not root your phone for this one.

    November 10, 2011 at 1:55 am

    Dear Mister NeaL Pradeep,

Thank you for this latest and all your other articles which I have read and from where I,ve carried out several ROM – updates for my Samsung Galaxy S with great interest and enthusiasm. Since I’m Dutch I hope you’ll forgive me making mistakes in my reply.
I realise that this is not the perfect spot for this reply and question, but on the other hand… where else?

Before I found the Android Advices website I’ve rooted my phone on Gingerbread 2.3.4 JVR and probably made a mistake; my WiFi stopped working. This is about two months ago. All your so well described updates and custom ROMS after this first time rooting a phone worked perfectly for me and I hoped that one of them would fix the WiFi problem. It didn’t.

In the early nine-tees I used to write simple GWBasic code and later on I wrote and understood (easy) javascripts. Android doesn’t seem very far from those two and I think I logically understand quit a lot of it . I found out that my config files (bcm_supp.conf and/or the other wifi / wlan configs) are not on my phone after an update and nor will they be restored after going back to a Stock ROM (and/or a Kies-update). Could yo help me to find a way, a website, a reference a book or a manual on how to understand, edit and restore these files or to get a better impression and understanding of this operating system in effort to get my WiFi working again. I would be very pleased with a solution.
Keep up the nice work and thank you very very much for all your educative and entertaining articles!

    Mick Bootsman from the Netherlands

My advices to anyone. Dont bother with this FW unless you are in portugal or on the portugeuse network. It will bring you a load of apps (portugeuse ones) which are totally useless. And the upgrade is no big deal. Wait for a more global release of this FW.

    Update 🙂

Since there were a lot of SAPOs apps…. guess from telemovil portugal……

I tried rooting with te xxjv and worked! so I got rid of all that crapware!

Also, I changed the bootlogo and shudown to the orginals, worked like a charm, Neal, how about a tutorial for the rest of people here so they don’t see that little ‘ bouncing around? 🙂 I’ll be glad to help/contribute

  27. Daniel

    November 8, 2011 at 10:51 pm

    Hey Neal,

Ok, so installed this ROM 🙂

And so far… so good…. deffinetely more stable than XXJVT

    so far:

    – no FC of phone.apk
    – no wifi issue …. yeah!
    – no bluetooth issue
    – and the best….. I didn’t had to recover my data (apks…. data… anything)
apparently, it just replaces the system ROM and doesn’t wipe anything, all apps working ok….. just not root apps 🙁

But I expect root to be coming soon… as always from Androidadvices!!!!

just a note, it does have a weird jumping logo when it boots, apparently from the operator, how can I change this?

    • NeaL Pradeep

      November 10, 2011 at 10:38 am

Yes, the root will be available soon!

  30. Daniel

    November 8, 2011 at 8:09 pm

    Hey ryanlum,

Not sure if its the same issue, but I’ve seen this behaviour in any ROM from time to time, normally a normall reboot fixes the issue, if not, probably clearing the cache should do the trick.
