Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 – Steps to Install Gingerbread 2.3.5 XXJVT Firmware
Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 with Gingerbread XXJVT 2.3.5:
- First up download the Gingerbread 2.3.5 XXJVT Firmware Zip file which contains all the ingredients in your computer and then you need to extract he same in your computer. Please note that in the process of unzipping, you will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- Once you are done with the extraction, you will have to now match with the extracted files which are mentioned in the below screen capture. Please note that if at all if there are any files which are missing then you will have to again re download and unzip the same from the above mentioned link.
- So, now considering the fact you have followed the list of pre requisites and also the above mentioned check, you now need to turn Off your phone and need to open the Odin flash tool in your computer.
- Now after this you will have to turn your mobile ON in the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button . Just in case if the device boots in the normal mode then you will have to again try the process of entering into the download mode. Please note that it’s not recommended to proceed if you are not entering into the download mode.
- Once you enter into the download mode, you now need to connect the phone with the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase. Now, once you have successfully connected the phone you will see that the ID: COM section will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers which are required for the firmware update has been successfully updated and you are now ready to proceed to the firmware update.
- Up next select files in Odin as per the below mentioned manner in the corresponding options.

PDA – CODE_I9000XXJVT_CL617736_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5,
Phone – MODEM_I9000XXJVT_REV_00_CL1064602.tar.md5,
CSC – GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVT.tar.md5
- Now, after selecting the files, check with the same and click on the “Start” tab to start the process of firmware update. As soon as you click on the “Start” you will see that the process of the firmware update begins after which you will have to wait till the firmware updates gets done. In the process of firmware update ensure that you are not interrupting the process of firmware update or else you may face issues like phone not turning ON.
- So, once the firmware update is done, you will see that the phone will be re started and then you will be asked to enter the Google account credentials as well as the Language preferences. Now, after this you need to turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by
- After entering the recovery mode, you will have to choose the options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. Please note that you will have to ensure that you don’t select any other options or else there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone. Please note that its utmost important to follow this step or else you will have to face force close errors.
- If you are unable to access the internet after the firmware update then you will have to re configure the APN Settings which can be done from the path Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. Just in case if you forgot to backup then you will have to contact your service provider so that the settings can be configured manually as the settings vary from place and operator you are on.
So, in this way you have successfully applied the update of Gingerbread 2.3.5 XXJVT on your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 phone. Do let us know just in case if you face any difficulties in updating in the comments section as we will try to sort out the same as soon as possible.

XXJVS 2.3.5 was really fast
Plus issues with market and google account, Took many restarts to finally sign in to google account so could access market !

I have tested most of the updates you presented here since I owned my SGS GT-I9000 wherever required by Odin3. The PC at my home with OS Windows XP/SP2 does not recognize my SGS in Odin3 while other PCs with the same OS have done the job by Odin3 successfully. What could be the reason? I tried many ways ( restarted PC, installed KIES and even reinstalled a fresh copy of WinxXP/Sp2 and again installed KIES ect.) but no luck till now. Could you suggest something else?

My comments:
I installed this one and wifi issue reamains…. from XXJVS, moved back again to 2.3.4, I found it fast and no issues with google accounts, but….. big but….. wifi disconnects every 30 seconds, confirmed, tried even rooting with the XXJVS which worked by the way and then applying the fixes you provided in the earlier version… (applied succesfully) but then again nothing happened, wiped cache, even wiped data… no change.
2.3.4 XXJVR with phonefix is working for me now, hoping for 2.3.6
to fix most of this issues!

You need to reboot check firmware..if not follow procedure and update again..

Well here we go again. Only a week ago I dowloaded and setup XXJVS, only to find it had a heap of problems, most of which I listed here under I9000 XXJVS speak your mind. So JVT comes along, again saying its fixed the bugs……and it hasnt. I described the previous firmware problem as being the bluetooth drops out when a force close error comes up. This drops my headset out which then takes 5 minutes of me rebooting the phone and headset and repairing eveything. On JVT ist does the same thing but I found out why, the force error appears to come from or forces the airplane mode to turn on which shuts of course all wireless activity, being 3G, Wifi and bluetooth. This software is a bit faster but a bigger pain in the backside than JVS and now im thinknk of going back to JVO. Any body got any ideas. Why cant samsung just get this right.
I didn’t find any problems mate, try the procedure again but this time do a factory reset before you update and format your external SD card. Once you finish with the update do not setup your phone, switch the phone off right from the setup screen and get into recovery mode and do a factory reset + wipe cache partition… Your phone will be free of conflicts from previous versions and applications… I don’t have any force close errors and it has been a week since I updated, don’t go back to XXJVO or XXJVS, they all have their own problems since I have had both on my phone… Good Luck….

Here ya go. The forced error which causes the fault I have described above is com.android.phone. It turns off all my wireless comms by switching on the airplane mode.

i used to have firmware 2.2 and it worked good then started to force close and giving alot of errors
so i downloaded this firmware and it was totally successful …
i rooted the phone then used galaxy s unlock to unlock my sim….
but still have “mobile network not available” !!!

Get into recovery mode (Vol Up + Home Button + Power) then select wipe cache partition and wipe data / factory reset… I have had the same problem and this solved it… You might want to format your external memory card as well if your device is slow at start up but that is not always necessary…

Many have posted negative comments here about this update. I just recently updated the phone yesterday and I found no issues at all. Everything works fine and great! It has a great difference from my previous Froyo version. Right now, i enjoyed more faster performance. Thanks for this update!

Just like Theo said, there has been so many negative comments about this update but I haven’t had any of the above mentioned issues so far… I have updated my phone to all the firmwares that has been released from this site and I have not come across any firmware that was as reliable as the 2.3.5 XXJVT… 2.3.3 DDJV9 (Asia Pacific) version was stable too but lags most of the time… Initially I found problems when signing into the Market (Connection Error) but later realized that my phone keeps switching between EDGE and HSDPA frequently and that’s the reason why the Market gives an error when it lost internet connectivity… When I have a stable network connection, the market works just fine… WiFi works smooth too and talking about smooth, I should say that this firmware is smoother than butter. I haven’t rooted my phone because I feel the phone is working just fine and I don’t want to mess it all up… I had a factory reset on the phone before I applied the update and I ticked the re-partition (risky) option in ODIN, the rest I followed whats mention in the site… No force close, no lag and the best so far…

Update my phone using this new firmware (XXJVT). Phone runs smoothly with no issues.
One problem I encountered though…. Android Market limits installation of the applications. Is says phone memory is full. Download apps from Samsung Apps.. no issues at all. Guess it’s one bug for this firmware…
Still using it and monitoring what other issues it has. I’ll post any issues I found.
BTW… for those having issues connecting to internet… update ur APN settings. As for the WiFi’s, I don;t see any issues on this. Just follow the instructions carefully. Do a factory rest and wipe cache. Everything should work fine.
as of now there are no such issues with the market, you can go to manage apps and clear the data and cache!

I have followed all procedure step by step but I guess I messed during earlier upgrades and therefore have lost my Marathi/Hindi fonts.

Odin does not recognize the phone, and I have samsung Kies installed on my computer. What should I do?

I found an issue with both 2.3.5 XXJVS and XXJVT, I found dhcp requests logged in my wireless router’s system log every min. I didn’t have this problem with 2.3.4. Did anyone else encounter the same?
I have reverted to 2.3.4 XXJVR and no longer see the dhcp requests every min. What could be the problem here?

i rooted my samsung galaxy s on gingerbread 2.3.5 xxjvt firmware and now i wanted to unroot my device. so i started the installation of gingerbread 2.3.5 xxjvt firmware again. i did everything according to the instructions and the problem is that the firmware update started in the Odin 3 V1.00 but thats it . the second last command said “firmware update start ” and the last command said “boot.bin” and after this nothing is happening . please help.

But now I’m not unable to view tamil fonts and guess I ve updated my mobile with an update which is not in sync with my model as mine is for India. Now How can I make the tamil fonts appear in mobile. Also when I connect Kies, it says this firmware version cannot be updated.

Just flashed my Vibrant from 2.2.1 to 2.3.5. Everything works great – but the phone won’t connect to T-mobile. Wifi works fine. I don’t think my phone is a GT variant (4G??) I bought my phone Nov 2010. Any ideas?
Further analysis… my phone can see AT&T, but not the T-mobile network. My wife’s phone still running 2.2.1 can see the T-mobile network (5 bars) and the AT&T.

At first everything worked fine, but now the internet is very slow, youtube not at all buffering any videos but a circle plays in the middle indicating buffering. When i try to download any app from market, it often throws error as “connection timed out” with an option “retry”. What’s wrong with my phone? Awaiting for you response.

What I want to know is XXJVT Zipped files available on your site are same as what the official firmware in UK is based on.

So if I update to XXJVT, it will no longer be an INU ROM. So when 2.3.5 is available in India, it won’t upgdate to Indian version. Is that right? So if and when you notify that Indian version of 2.3.5 is available, will I need to roll back to DDJV9 amd then connect to Kies? Or will zipped files for manual update be made available here? Please clarify.
you can install or go back to INU by installing DDJV9!

i flashed XXJVT . i m facing issue that my phone doesn’t wakeup when i press ok button . . phone is in dead sleep . it happen when txt msg or missed call i want to check . . only way to put battery out and reinsert . then work fine but some time sms are not sent then after factory format phone become ok . it also happen when i m on xxjvs .

there are few system apps which require that memory! its normal! user level memory is always less than quoted! its not an issue!

After a disappointing 2.3.4 JJVR (dialer & messaging problem, overheating & phone hangs a lot) i have decided to go to official 2.3.3 , which is very-very slow. So dont understand what to do as indian official 2.3.4 DDJV6 is very slow. After seeing this 2.3.5 as official version i have updated my sgs but again as some people mentioned wifi is a problem that means it is not official? I have a problem with my S9000. whenever i connect the phone to any computer, its gives an error as “USB not recognized, install drivers”. I have also tried downloading latest drivers from net but its still the same.
Last week I went to Samsung customer care and they will install / flash my phone (or something) and the problem will disappear, but they are charging too much money for it.
Can I do it myself? I need to upgrade it to 2.3.5 from 2.2 froyo.

I have installed the firmware and it’s working fine. The firmware is very stable and I can clearly see the battery improvements.I am Indian galayx S user.
The only problem I am facing is the com.android.phone process stops working very often specially after the end of a call. According as the instructions I did clean the cache partition and factory reset after installing the ROM.
Please help me solving the issue.

But after update my wifi is giving problem. when i turn on wifi, with in few seconds it turns off automatically itself !
