Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 – Steps to Install ICS Cyanogen MOD 9 Android 4.0 Firmware
We love Ice Cream Sandwich, isn’t it? And our love for this has been complimented by Google in the form of an OS version named after Ice Cream Sandwich to mark the arrival of Android 4.0 version. Over the last few days, we have been getting tremendous comments for a working and a usable port of Android 4.0 ICS for Galaxy S GT I9000 but since it’s still in the early stages, it will be difficult for us to find and come out with an article featuring the stable ICS build. Not to worry, we just want to thank brilliant efforts of some developers who are dedicatedly working on launching a new ROM which has similar traits that of an ICS build. Please note that VPN Still doesnt work in this version of firmware.
So, on the similar lines in this article we will check out the latest version Ice Cream Sandwich in the form of Cyanogen MOD 9.0 which will be launching very soon to the public with the beta and stable versions very soon.

It can be define as beta,hay but its just rocking, though the home launcher is little bit lagging thus i have replaced it with the Syndicate apps ICS Launcher4. Now the UI Is stable as well as more fluid.Coming to video,it is still not working but in overall rom is stable and its a beauty with the Delicious taste of Icecream Cynogen Sandwich ….thanks 2 u all.

I have tried to update but when i tried to install CM9_ICS_BUILD5.zip it restarts my phone into the samsung galaxy logo with cynogen mod.. and it returns to apply update from zip file on SD card, the problem is that I could not choose the remaining file on the card.. everytime i choose zip from SD card, i could not enter the sd card.. i always return to another menu.. what button will i choose…? please help.. thanks

yes you need to just flash the face unlock zip file from recovery!

I ve flashed my sgs with gb 2.3.5 XFJVA…my baseband version is I9000XXJVT and firmware version being 2.3.5
can i flash the phone with this rom…without changing back to I9000XXJVT…

yes you can go for it but this is not that stable compared to XFJVA!

there are whole new features and apps which are missing in default firmware version. whole new layout is there! you can wait for few more days! though you can give it a try!
I transferred it to SD card in vcf format, when I tried to import it back to my phone i could not anymore. One thing also, i could not locate my SD card, when I open it using IO file.. my sd card is empty… is there any other way to access the file.. It is a good custom rom though.. but it has a lot of bugs…. when will the stable one will come?
how can you backup in vcf ? it won’t recognize, you should have used the method to back as we mentioned! we are sorry and we can’t help you!
Thanks for the reply Neal… I really appreciate it… how about the programs i downloaded on the SD (apk files). I could not access thesame on the SD card… i used ASTRO file explorer but everytime i go to the SD card it always shows empty… what can i do about it..

thank you for all the effort u mùade for us as user of sgs i9000 am great user of costum rom and updating of software of sgs i 9000. but at least this up date is very nice i agree with all of you .but like it is sead above the extenal sd card it’s not recognized with the oi file manager even with other file manager it’s seems to be empty.with no data .and when i connect it directly to my pc i found my data with all file .i think that there is a problem with update concerning the external sd card .please i need answer as soon as possible if any.if not i think i will downgrade tio the previous rom.

no sound during phone boot up after rooting 2.3.5 XXJVT.
Proceed to install ICS Cyanogen MOD 9 Android 4.0 Firmware as instruction stated.
Slow on boot up, takes about 2 minutes without sound.
Camera force close, Gallery open and force close, Sygic GPS cannot start and hang.
But overall, it’s good. Will wait for the official firmware.

Thanx for this cool update. Its smooth and there is Devnagari Script/ Hindi option in language. Thanx to the developers. But hindi is not well displyed. Very big letters and tightly ovrrlaped lines. Difficulty to read. Plz. Correct it in next version. Battery is not stable. Thanx.

Hi Neal I have updated 2.3.5 to ICS and it is working very smooth rather than few bugs. but the main drawback is consumption of battery. It will be fixed in next update ?

Just wanted to post an update. Have ICS running now on my SGS. Working like a charm Only issues I have so far, is inability to sync my calendars (Have an error in the sync menu) , and musicplayer not working (FC). Otherwise perfect, and migration went like a charm, even keeping all my settings and apps and such.

I have a problem in this installation.Its been working fine from the day of installation.( I installed this on the same day you posted this update here). Today morning onwards my google apps stopped working. I restarted and kept mobile for a while for poweroff. But still problem is same. what could be the problem?
