Samsung Galaxy S PLUS I9001 – Steps to Install Gingerbread 2.3.5 XXKPG Firmware
For all those who have recently purchased the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 which is 40% much faster than its earlier version of phone which is Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 can now breathe easy as in the due course of this article we will see on how you can easily update your phone with the latest version of Gingerbread 2.3.5 update. This update comes as a huge respite for all these users who were not so positive about the support. The best part of this update is that anyone with their Galaxy S Plus I9001 phones can proceed with this procedure to update their phones and also ensure that you are not updating the similar looking phones which are like Samsung Galaxy S I9000, Galaxy SL i9003 etc as if you still continue to proceed with the update then you may end up bricking up the phone.

Pre Requisites:
- First up you will have to proceed to charge the phone as you need to at least have 70% plus battery charge left in your phone so as to just ensure that the phone doesn’t get turned off in the process of firmware update.
- Once the phone is charged to the sufficient level, you now need to proceed to create the backup of all the data which is stored in the phone so as to just ensure that the
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- So, once you are done with the backup, you will now need to proceed to close all the antivirus tools which are there in the computer followed by the PC Suites if any are installed in the computer as these tools generally end up interrupting the process of the firmware update. Ensure that that the PC on which you will be using the PC for updating is having the full access or the admin rights in your computer or else the phone won’t be detected in the Odin.

hi, i plug my 9001, odin shows jelow com port, but when i start it stucks on Setup communications and does nothing.
i tried diferent odin versions, diferent pc, but ploblem stays the same.

I think we must not try with updates of Pradeep Neela. Neither it works non does he answer the questions. I had similar issue with my tab p1000. I had to unnecessarily root it for the sake of ICS update and never reached that update. Now I cant even go for the update from kies
