Update Jan 18, 2016: Samsung the flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 5 smartpone back in september last year in India. Now, the brand has officially launched the Dual-SIM version of Galaxy Note 5 with 32GB storage for the Indian users priced at Rs 51,400. It comes with dual Nano SIM card slots supporting the 4G connectivity. This device is available in three variants of colors, i.e., Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, and Silver Titanium and would be officially available on the Samsung India’s e-Store. The brand is also planning to launch 64GB variant of the device for Rs 57,400, but the availability of this variant is yet to be revealed.
Update Sep 7: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is officially launched in India today and is priced at Rs.53,900 for 32GB variant and Rs.59,900 for 64GB variant. The Galaxy Note 5 will go on sale on September 20, and pre-orders open from Monday. The device comes with a free wireless charging pad for the initial purchases made through their official eStore.
Earlier Aug 13: Samsung officially unveiled the latest phablet ‘Galaxy Note 5‘ from its Galaxy Note Series in New York, the US. The Note 5 will be Samsung’s first smartphone to feature 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and also the first smartphone from Galaxy Note series to feature uni-build body. It has an Aluminium frame around the device with Gorilla Glass 4 protections on front and rear of the device.
Coming to the specifications sports the same 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560×1440) Super AMOLED display found on the Galaxy Note 4 and with a pixel density of 518ppi. It also includes the traditional S-Pen with a metallic finish and few more additional functions, now it comes with all new push pull design. It is powered by a 64-bit Exynos 7420 processor that is earlier used on Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
The device comes in three storage variants 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB of internal storages with no microSD card slot. Interestingly the Note 5 sports a smaller 3,000mAh battery whereas its predecessor had a 3,220mAh battery. It comes with quick charge support for wired and wireless. As per the company, the battery on the Note 5 can fully charge in just 90 minutes by connecting through a wired charger and in 120 minutes by a Ssmsungs improved wireless charger.
On the camera front, it sports the same 16MP rear camera present on the Note 4 with OIS along with an aperture of f/1.9 and dual LED flash. There is an improved 5MP front camera instead of the 3.7MP camera found on Note 4. Both the cameras support Auto HDR.
The device measures 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6 mm and weighs 171 grams. Connectivity on the device includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2 LE and micro USB2.0. t runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based TouchWiz UI.
The company confirmed that the Note 5 will not be launched in the UK and other European markets, as this device is manufactured for selective markets like the US and other Asian countries. The device also supports the Samsung Pay which will be launched on August 20 in Korea and on September 28 in the US. It will launched in other markets like the UK, Spain, China and other countries as well.
The device will be available in the colors – White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium. The company also announced that the sale will be starting from August 21 in the US while there is no information about the availability in other countries.
