Do you remember the Samsung Galaxy S, one of the earliest Android smartphones from Samsung? it has been getting some upgrades and new versions all the time (including the Galaxy S Duos), and now we are getting to see the direct second gen version of it – the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2. The phone modeled GT-S7582 would come with the same 4-inch touchscreen and the WVGA display, but the things that are changed in this include the internal powering and the camera getting a flash support. The phone is already shown on the official Samsung eStore in India, and the price of it Rs. 10999, although it shows “Not in Stock” and the actual shipping could start anytime soon.
The screen being the same, the processor has been made better with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor included along with 768 MB of RAM. There is no clarity about the chipset included in the smartphone but Samsung doesn’t include any bad ones, thus the pricing doesn’t go that low. Running the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, the Galaxy S Duos 2 has the same TouchWiz UI which we see in the Samsung Android phones. There is a 5-megapixel rear camera with the LED flash, and it can record 720p HD videos.
Connectivity wise, it’s the standard options including the 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and the internal storage is 4GB with Samsung clearly mentioning that a part of this would be used by the operating system and the default applications that are being included in it. There is a storage expansion option to 64GB with the MicroSD card support. Battery would be a little disappointment though, as we get to see the same 1500 mAh Li-ion battery which hasn’t changed from the device that was launched three years back.
The price of Rs. 11000 doesn’t impress much, but still coming from Samsung this is a very neat option considering the Dual SIM and the improved internal specs, and the added flash where users can choose this against the other options, thus Galaxy Core from the same company isn’t a bad option if you have a little higher budget.
