Samsung Galaxy S III Launched – 4.8″ 720p Super AMOLED Display, 8MP Camera – Specs & Features

The Next Galaxy, i.e. the Samsung Galaxy S III is finally into the scene. Thousands, literally thousands of false news kept the readers busy on just dreaming about what would be possible specifications of the Galaxy S III, but the truth has come out. The Galaxy S III rocks, its truly superb and keeps everything else at bay today. And no, its not the #NextGalaxy but the Galaxy S III would be the official name of the phone.

Check how Samsung Transformed to the best every year, from the Samsung Galaxy S in 2010 to the S III this year.

Samsung Galaxy S III

Here are a few features that we have found out, as the event goes on live right now:

  • 4.8-inch 720p Super AMOLED Display
  • 8MP rear camera
  • 1.9MP front camera with “face recognition”
  • 2100mAh Battery
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS

S Voice for the Samsung Galaxy S III is what the Siri app for the iPhone 4S is. It recognizes your voice, listens to your command and acts the way you want it to.

Here are some of the best features of the Galaxy S III:

Smart Stay – The front camera of the phone recognizes whether you are actively looking at the phone screen and using it, and until that the screen is turned on. If the camera doesn’t detect your viewing, the screen would turn off automatically.

Direct call – This feature is helpful when you are trying to text message someone but in the end decide not to do that and call the same person. For making the call, you just need to lift the phone towards your face or ear and the call would be dialed automatically.

S Voice – We talked with a bit of over excitement here about this feature, and compared it with the Siri for iPhone but actually it isn’t. It listens to your commands, but a very few ones. Searching using the Google search, turning the camera on, calling someone, checking the weather etc. is what all is done listening to your commands.

Samsung Galaxy S III S Voice

S Beam – The Near Field Communication transfer is taken to the next level from the standard ICS based NFC that came earlier. The tapping and phone-to-phone transfer is possible in a faster and better way.

Burst Shot (Best Photo) – 20 captures in a super-fast mode, and all are displayed at once and out of them you may select the best shot and all the other are deleted. This is nothing new, as the HTC One X Camera already had a better way, capturing 99 pictures in the same burst mode.

Wireless charging is what we have heard of, but aren’t sure how it works until we directly test it out.

May 29th is the date when the Samsung Galaxy S III would be actually available in the market in the West, and in the Eastern nations like India, the market would get it for sale in June.

We are still updating.

After the break: The previous news, rumors and talk about the Galaxy S III. Whatever has just been released, is updated above.

How many of you have already bought a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 mobile phone and are confused on should to upgrade to S2 or wait for something better? Here is a good news for all of you because Samsung’s mobile division president has hinted that the Galaxy S3 is soon going to be launched with some awesome configuration. In an age where Samsung has ruled the Android Market with its “Galaxy” Series signature after the hit and hot selling success of Galaxy S as well as Galaxy S2 phone, time has now come to speculate about the Samsung Galaxy S3 handset which is already in the making for making itself available in the year 2012.

First of all Samsung is trying to beat all the Apple Records in terms of sales and the Galaxy S2 has helped them in doing the best by bringing Samsung into Number #2 top mobiles selling company. If you are already having a pretty good mobile which you are not yet planning to sell away or upgrade then its suggested to wait for around a years time for the Galaxy S3 or the Galaxy 3D models. While the lawyers of both Samsung and Apple are busy in fighting it out for the supremacy in the technology space, the Engineering units of both are busy in creating an unforgettable and powerful smart phone with iPhone5 and Samsung Galaxy S3.

Samsung Galaxy S3

We have very less details on this handset as of now but Apple would of course get the first preview because of the ongoing legal battle between both the companies and we should expect some actual snaps of the phone by this year end. It is being speculated that the model number for the Samsung Galaxy s3 will be GT I9300.

Going with the specifications its expected to obviously be an upgrade of the Galaxy S2 with the Camera being 12Mp, quad-core processor, a super-bright AMOLED 3D screen with NFC, 4G Supported device etc. to name a few.  Especially when the HTC One X, Ascend P1 D and Meizu Mx Quad Core phones are out, it will be have to be atleast 1.5 Ghz quad core processor Samsung Exynos CPU. Also its expected that this would be the first phone which would feature the Ice Cream Sandwich. Also the screen size should be around 4.5″ which beats the LG Optimus 3D and also offer you with 4G connectivity support. Lets wait and watch how all this goes and when the phone would be actually be available to you and then you can decide if its worth upgrading your current phone or not. It is also said that this phone will be launched in the first half of FY’12. So, just in case if you have not purchased the last phone from the Samsung which is the Samsung Galaxy S2 then its probably just time to wait as you can buy an all new and probably the World’s best would be smart phone, the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Undoubtedly, Samsung is betting very big on this handset as its in no mood to disclose things about this Samsung Galaxy S3 anything Officially. This smart phone is going to be the World’s slimmest smart phone ever which was disclosed by our close source from Samsung. Another most important feature which is speculated is that it will be having the lowest SAR value which is basically the radiation emitted by the phone. With rising health concerns around the Globe and people’s preference on talking on the phone more than meeting personally, its very important ensure that you have a smart phone which has the lowest SAR Level. With higher SAR levels, the phone tends to get heated up which can in turn damage the brain. Considering the fact that by 2012, the 4G will turn into reality and almost maximum countries will be witnessing the 4G, this support also looks possible. So, in all if you have a look at some of the core features or say USPs then these will be 12MP camera with probably CMOS Sensor with it.

The below picture was recently popped up on the web claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S III would be launched world wide in May 2012. Hope these rumors are true and we really get a chance to see this device.

Highlight Features of Samsung Galaxy S3:

  • 3rd generation Super AMOLED 3D Screen,

  • Probable 4G Supported Phone,
  • Slimmest Smart Phone ever

Am sure after reading this whole article you might just still want to know on by when this phone will be launching, for which we just can say one thing, stay tuned to Androidadvices.com as we will be updating this article as in when we get any inputs from our sources at SAMSUNG etc. We still haven’t added any concept photos of Samsung Galaxy S3 as of now  in this article, but as soon as we get any we will surely update this article with the same.

Galaxy S III would be priced at Rs 43,180 as the MRP price on the box and to get discount in the form of assured gift worth Rs 1500. You can purchase this handset at Samsung India eStore online.

  3. WOW THIS IS A GREAT NEWS. I AM WAITING FOR S3 AND DECIDED NOT TO BUY S2. IT WILL BE GREAT IF SAMSUNG RELEASES S3 BY THIS END OF YEAR.

  4. I hope they improve battery life on SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 because on the S2 the battery life is really poor for me it lasts 4 to 5 hour and when recharging takes more than 2 hours so its really a pain but the phone is more than what i expected this is the mother and father of all the smartphones on the planet.

    • True even the galaxy s1 doesn’t have that much power. 8 to 10 hours uptime would be great. That under heavy use off course

  5. Wowwwwwww i’m realy very excited to read next update….
Than’s to samsung company b’cos he can understand our craze about handset.
    I purches 3 galaxy s in laxt 3 munth.

  6. Nice Post, Thanks for your post, Keep Posting.!!

  7. If it is released in 2012, it will be available to AT&T customers sometime in 2013.

    • haha! That’s the truth!! They even delayed releasing the SII for no particular reason :P I had thought about waiting for the SIII but, then I thought “Wait, I’m with AT&T…whatever Samsung sets the release date for, add another 6+ months” :)

  8. Will going to beat all phones if it is tegra quadcore processor and with 3d screen

  9. hope is gonna be better than the I phone 5

  12. Sadly enough I read a post somewhere else today that the much anticipated Nexus Prime is infact turned out to be the Samsung Droid Prime, sporting a 4.65″ Screen. It will be the first to run ICS and will only be exclusive to verizon he3nce the DROID name

    • A Samsung rep today said the company would launch the Nexus on Verizon in the U.S., but later retracted that statement saying nothing has been officially confirmed.

Analysts have speculated for a while and still expect that the Nexus will be offered on Verizon’s network at the time of its release, but other carriers now appear to be in the mix. Samsung said during the unveiling of the device that it would come in both HSPA+ and LTE versions.

The HSPA+ version would be the best for T-Mobile’s network while the LTE versions would likely land at Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. However, Samsung may also be manufacturing the two different versions of the device for carriers overseas.

Samsung and Google’s Nexus availability on all major U.S. carriers would make the device a legitimate competitor against the Apple’s iPhone 4S. The Nexus will take on the iPhone on whatever carrier it’s offered on, but the device likely won’t challenge the 4S’s overall sales numbers if only Verizon carries it.

Google’s release of its flagship Android device on multiple carriers at launch would be uncharacteristic for the company, although it may benefit sales. The HTC Nexus One first launched for T-Mobile and was supposed to eventually come to Verizon and Sprint, but the carriers later scrapped those plans. AT&T also offered the device, but only at an unsubsidized price.

The Nexus S, the successor to the One, also launched on T-Mobile, before coming to Sprint with a 4G upgrade.

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus launching for Verizon would mark the first time the carrier offered Google’s flagship Android phone, but it may not have the exclusive on the device for long, and may even have to share it from day one.

  13. Now if only they’ll stop copying the exterior of iphones and make it look all sexy like the i8910 and I’ll be the first in line to buy this phone.

    • In my opinion a phone is a phone, all phones will have some similarity on the exterior design and that’s normal. It’s fine to me and I don’t agree galaxy is copying iphones exterior. Look carefully and you can tell tons of differents between them. My advise is don’t get cheated by rumor. Listen to your heart and be decisive to get only what you want. After all you should pay for what you like and not other people like.

      • Hell, even if they ARE copying iPhone’s exterior, Apple shouldn’t mind seeing as how they are using SAMSUNG’S “A5″ processor in their new 4s! :)

  14. Cannot wait for this phone, please keep the updates frequent, really looking forward to it :D

  15. i don’t need the s2 because of the extraordinary ROM 3.4. :)

  16. expat-living-in-Nederlands

With lunatic apple banning sales of Samsung in Europe (netherlands), I cannot wait until S3 comes and then I will buy 4 of them for all family members showing my fingers to steve cancerous jobs and her crappy iSuck iPhone.

  17. Looking at the rumoured specs for the iPhone 5 I personally believe it’ll be on par with Samsungs current SGS2. The SGS3 will be awesome!! Apples playing catch up now….

  18. actually im pretty sure the nexus prime is going to be first with ICS? lol

  19. Nice post. Just hope Samsung bumps up the resolution to that of the Nexus Prime, & addresses the dead pixel issues, yellowing of the screen, color temperature changes, which plague the SGS2.

  20. is samsung s2 is bettr than apple iphone4 or upcoming iphone5???plz reply m confuse!!!!!

  21. i like 2 see the model but can’t find it,someone if u have a pic of it.kindly send thepic to my gmail account…!
    “thnx a lot”

  22. it’s really a good news!!

  23. Any way someone has some inside connections at Samsung US Cellular division ?
You enthusiastically stated in several articles that the Galaxy Z will turn out to be the poor man alternative to the Galaxy S2.
However 2-3 months have gone by and nobody seems to know it it will be ever sold in the US market.
    Pleae help?
    PL

  24. Wow … :O its really a great news …

    Thanks for the share

    • Good news but I’m worried about the gpu in this phone. The iphone 4s currently has the best gpu of any smarphone (way faster than the S2′ gpu) and the best games as a result. I hope to see a powervr series 6 gpu and a15 cpu in the galaxy 3 or galaxy 4.

      • 6 gpu 15 cpu one thing for sure OVERHEAT :D

        • @@@, Do you think this is an apple ICRAP junk that gets hot? ICRAP 5 has been delayed for over 1 1/2 years now due to melting down over heating issue. NOT samsung. Samsung rocks and eats apple and spits it out hahahaha LOVE IT

          • lmao too right. both my sister and mom have iphone 4S’s and i have a galaxy S2. it keeps overheating. my mates-dads-phone actually died and sort of exploded while he was in a long distance call. he had to go get a new one and in the end he got a galaxy too. my sister realises its better and they truly are. they are friggin awesome. samsung FTW!

      • ok how is iphone 4s faster im not a fanboy for ether os but the spec sheets sets 4s at daul 800ghz gs2 at 1.2ghz and the g2s as more ram also with that said go to youtube and search iphone 4s vs galaxy s2

        • The iphone 4s is a LOT faster, almost twice as fast as the Galaxy S2 on a number of different benchmarks.

          Refer to this article…

There are a number of benchmarks there that show the 4s to be a lot faster than the S2

The GPU on the iphone 4s is a generation beyond the gpu in the Galaxy S2 as far as performance is concerned.

          • apple,ha,ha……just name !!!

          • GPU aside, it will still be sitting with a dual core. The s3 will certainly surface with a quad core CPU + a decent GPU that can handle all the android 3d games perfectly. The iphone 5 will most likely house the chip found in the new ipad. Since they have not been able to solve the overheating issue on the new ipad, I doubt they will make it a quad core CPU + quad core GPU cause that would mean the device catching fire. S3′s 1080p 4.7 inch super amoled plus alone is the reason to get it over the iphone.

          • Iphone 4s is sucks!!! a lot of problem since i am working at mobile phone shop and heard a lot of complained about iphone 4s including the old issue (buzzer)。 My boss experienced using iphone 4s for 1 month and because of buzzer problem and sent to warranty for 2 months. After used for another 2 weeks, another problem faced again by him and need to wait few months for warranty again. Finally he decided to change s2.

          • thats because it isnt as good. therefore it has less to think about so it can concentrate on a few things in comparisont eh the GS2′s many. its like a man: nit cant multitask so it doesnt even try. try playing music while surfing the net on it and it just dies. the iphone is crap. itll be a relief for samsung when the I5 comes out so even more people will end up buying a second phone, ie. a galaxy S3 within a few months of the i5.

          • @wikoogle-honey, why dont u try and do a lil research before you comment? It’s so obvious ur an apple fanboi. duh!

        • @Billy, don’t be fulled by paid off people that work for apple to bench mark. my samsung S2 EAT and KILL IJUCK any day any time. WAY FASTER. IJUNK does not even has a 4G yet. ICRAP 5 has been delayed for 1/1/2 years due to major over heating issue (like the new icrap) and was melting down. why people play with a phone before they buy?????? super OLD on samsung is outstanding. ICRAP now is catching to my old HTC EVO 4G which is 2+ years old. people wake up apple sucks and thy really make belive their ICRAPS is better than others by marketting and pay offs.

          • @st

I have to disagree about the S2 being so great, I had an iPhone 3g, nice little phone got it just as the 4 was coming out so not the most powerful but never had a days trouble with it. I upgraded (apparently) to the S2 on contract renewal and it is the worst phone I’ve ever used. I haven’t had it a full year yet and am on my fourth replacement. Each one has the same problems….overheating to the point of not being able to keep it in a pocket, cutting out, random crashing, losing audio, drops signal to name a few issues. The latest one has nothing but my contact list on it, defeats the point of a smartphone if it can’t actually support/run apps without crashing.

I have limited experience with the iPhone 4s but have run comparisons with people at work and iPhone beats my lump of crap hands down any day. Can’t wait to get out of contact and go back to a decent bit of technology that doesn’t have a hissy fit every time it’s used

            • sharon vickers

I too had an Apple 3gs and upgraded to Samsung S2. My results are exactly opposite. I did not choose Mobile Me so support after 3 months is non-existant. My battery life always sucked and before I had had the phone 2 years, I was charging the phone 2 or 3 times a day. I was advised by the people at AT&T to do a master reset and that not only wiped out my music files and applications, and corrupted those files on iTunes so that they could not be restored. I got my S2 7 months ago and have had no major issues. The few minor problems I’ve had have been resolved through AT&T technical support. I love the back button and task manager. Like any smartphone, the battery doesn’t last forever; but I have a back up battery. They’re are a few things that I preferred with the iphone; but, for me, the S2 does everything my iphone could and some things better. I also have an iPad if I need an Apple fix.

            • I traded in my Samsung Galaxy S. Nothing but issues, email troubles and constant “ForceClose” It was also had terrible quality and felt like a large chunk of plastic. My new iPhone 4S is far superior, faster, smoother and completely reliable. It works seamlessly with my other equipment. It is also incredibly built and feels like a substantial piece of equipment in my hand. Apples ecosystem is also far superior. After using the 4S I would never go back to Android.

      • The Samsung Galaxy S3 really rocks, it will be the best from samsung and something strong to stand against iPhone and HTC.
