Samsung unveiled the new S6 Edge at Mobile World Congress March 1st, 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. The Galaxy S6 edge features the world’s first dual-curved glass display which is an additional display when compared to the Galaxy Note Edge launched in 2014. It’s glass and aluminium body makes it feel more premium than previous Samsung devices. It comes in five colors i.e., white pearl, black sapphire, gold platinum, blue topaz and green emerald. Hardware
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge features a curve-edged display, which is made from Corning Gorilla Glass 4. This Edge screen differentiates it from the S6, along with most other smartphones on the market. Its 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display has a very high pixel density of 577 ppi.
The other specs include Samsung’s latest octa-core processor, comprising four 2.1 GHz and four 1.5 GHz cores. It packs 3 GB of RAM and either 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of internal memory, powered by a 2,600mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has WPC- and PMA-certified wireless charging technology, therefore you can place your device on top of a compatible base station and charge it up without needing a USB chord. It also, support fast wired charging at about 1.5 times faster than the Galaxy S5.

Software
The Galaxy S6 Edge runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system and comes with a stripped-back version of TouchWiz user interface. Samsung has reworked the interface, equipping it with a simpler, flatter design and less bloatware. The smartphone ships with just two Samsung apps pre-loaded which includes Samsung Pay, a mobile payments service that looks to challenge Apple Pay. The NFC-based payments service, much like Apple’s allows users to make payments by scanning their fingerprint.
An upgraded version of Samsung’s Knox security suite is also included on the Galaxy S6 as the firm looks to tackle iOS and Windows Phone in the enterprise segment. This upgraded security software takes advantage of the handset’s upgraded touch-based fingerprint scanner and comes with a new remotely controlled ‘Reactivation Lock’ feature.
Camera
The Galaxy S6 Edge features a 16 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front facing camera, with both sporting f/1.9 aperture for better low light shots.There are also some enhancements to the camera app. A new auto real-HDR feature will automatically turn on HDR when necessary. Samsung has also included the smart optical image stabilization system which helps to reduce any blurriness caused by a shaky hand, and it’s also designed to help capture clearer shots of moving subjects.

The Galaxy S6 Edge will be available on major U.S. carrier starting from April 10, 2015 with 32/64/128GB storage options. The smartphone will be available in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz colour options.
The Galaxy S6 Edge is available for pre-order starting from 20th March. It is available in storage variations of 32, 64 and 128GB, with four color variants — White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum and Blue Topaz.
Samsung has officially launching the S6 smartphone in India, today. The Galaxy S6 Edge has been priced at Rs. 58,900 (for 32GB version). The S6 Edge 64GB variant is priced at Rs. 64,900 while 128 GB is available for Rs. 70,900. Customers who pre-book will get benefits like one-time screen replacement and payback points for any cash back scheme Samsung may launch in the future.
The 32GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are available for pre-order, in Turkey, with the Turkish carrier Turkcell.The 32GB Galaxy S6 Edge price will be $1060 USD. The launch date is not yet know, but expect it in the first week of April.
The Galaxy S6 Edge will be available in the Philippines on April 18th.The price of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for the 32GB/64GB models will be $937and $1,071.
Samsung Netherlands site had listed the 32 GB version of Galaxy s6 Edge at €849, while the 64 GB version of the S6 Edge is listed as €949.
Review
The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is the first handset to feature a wrap-around screen that flows over the edges on both sides. It is slightly thicker than the S6 probably due to the larger battery. It has a far more premium feel like the Note Edge or Galaxy Alpha.
