Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 – Steps to Update Official DDKPI Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware
Samsung Galaxy I9003 users now have a reason to cheer as we last reported that Samsung Discontinued the support for this phone has now surprisingly come out with the Official Gingerbread 2.3.6 version. This update will be pushed via KIES very soon but as a privilege of Android ADVICES reader, you can now apply this update directly without you needing to wait to update the phone from the KIES Samsung Official tool. We personally recommend you to apply this Gingerbread 2.3.6 update right away as we understand that most of the users might be on the beta versions of the firmware for which KIES is not supported. The only way to update is by following this article. This all new Official Gingerbread 2.3.6 update for Galaxy SL I9003 is dubbed as DDKPI. The best part is that it’s the Official update from Samsung Electronics Ltd. Also, soon a new beta version of Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 will be available for Galaxy SL I9003 which too we will be covering on androidadvices.com. This ROM for Galaxy SL I9003 will surely be called as a Kolaveri Di ROM for Android as its an official Gingerbread 2.3.6 Official update.

I have successfully installed the firmware. The command in Odin indicates that the update has been successful. BUT, the device keep rebooting and doesn’t reach the homescreen. Instead, it’s just playing around with Samsung animation. I didn’t disconnect the device from the PC. So what’s this all about? Can you help me please?

I’m able to make calls in the morning. Suddenly, I do not see any contacts, phone and messaging icons. Mine is GT-I9003.
When I connect to Skies, I used to get reminder to update Firmware. I kept on cancelling / postponing dialog box even yesterday.
Is there any way to see if it has really upgraded? Any suggestions to rollback / go back to yday’s state?
revert back to yuor original firmware or you can clear the data and check!

just check with the drivers! it shall fix the issue!

I tried this with a UK vodafone handset and it upgraded fine but wouldn’t recognise the Sim card

hey neal,i was running android 2.3.6 DDKP2 firmware on my galaxy SL…. i’ve seen your page asking the users to upgrade DDKP2 to DDKPI……but as far as i’ve upgraded i can see that this is the fucking old XXKPQ version……Is any other version available for Samsung galaxy SL?
When i plug my phone with computer and open KIES it says that YOUR DEVICE DOES NOT SUPPORT UPGRADING VIA KIES…. why is it saying so and what should i do now?
