Well, Samsung Galaxy Fold is one of the most awaited devices for this year which has been reported by many reviewers for its breaking display. Following which the South Korean Giant announced that it has been inspecting the broken units in person to find the cause and decided to launch the product on the same day as announced earlier. But now, the launch event has been officially postponed in the US following the indefinite postpone in China and Hong Kong.
As of now, the new launch dates of the handset has not been mentioned but the company should be announcing the new dates in the next weeks. This is a bit of let off for all the users who have been eagerly waiting to get this luxurious $1980 foldable device. The review units have a protective layer, removing which has caused the display issues initially but was few incidents also reported that the handset has gone dead even after the plastic layer on the top was intact.
Samsung is trying to fix these issues of the protective layers by extending the edges. Few other reports claimed that they have noticed a bump on the device but there is still no explanation given for it. The device went for pre-order in the US recently and this world’s first foldable smartphone cannot be bought as of now. Well, who would like to buy a device which breaks or shuts down just after few hours of usage?
Coming to the specs sheet of the device, the Galaxy Fold comes powered with the latest 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 485 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU. It has a 7.3-inch foldable Dynab=mic AMOLED display while a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED covers the display. It comes with a 4380 mAh battery with the support for fast charging and also fast wireless charging.
Furthermore, it has 12GB of RAM memory along with 512GB of onboard storage. Obviously, it runs on Android 9 Pie operating system based on One UI and has a fingerprint sensor on the side. The handset comes with a total of 6 cameras on it with one 10MP Dual Pixel camera placed on the notch while there is an 8MP depth-sensing camera also. While on the rear we can find a triple camera setup with 12MP Dual Pixel camera, a 12MP telephoto camera, and a 16MP ultra-wide angle camera. One 10MP camera is also placed on the top.
Well, we have to wait and see when Samsung will announce the new launch dates of this device soon and might also go through another round of test before bringing it to the market.
