Samsung Releases ISOCELL Fast 2L9 & ISOCELL Slim 2X7 Image Sensors

Samsung Electronics company is working on next-generation of S-series smartphones which are expected to be unveiled at MWC 2018. Now, the South Korean giant has released two new ISOCELL image sensors for mobile cameras: 1.28-micrometer (μm) 12-megapixel (Mp) ISOCELL Fast 2L9 with Dual Pixel technology, and ultra-small 0.9μm 24Mp ISOCELL Slim 2X7 with Tetracell technology. The Samsung ISOCELL image sensors would be supported in four categories depending on their key attributes like Fast, Slim, Bright and Dual. If the market is demanding for sleeker smartphones with premium features? Then the both sensors would offer high-resolution images which would fix in small chip packages. These camera sensors would deliver excellent photos in detail even in the low-light environments.

“Samsung ISOCELL Fast 2L9 and ISOCELL Slim 2X7 are new image sensors that fully utilize Samsung’s advanced pixel technology, and are highly versatile as they can be placed in both front and rear of a smartphone,” said Ben K. Hur, Vice President of System LSI Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung plans to further develop the Dual Pixel and 0.9μm-pixel product categories, and expand applicable devices for ISOCELL image sensors that can enhance photographing experiences for consumers.”

It is the another popular Samsung ISOCELL sensor which has a 12MP dual pixel. This sensor would deliver ultra-fast auto-focus at a small pixel size of 1.28μm, but previous dual pixel sensor would provide 1.4μm pixel size. The dual Pixel technology would operate two photodiodes in every pixel of the sensor instead of only one. This camera sensor would focus very quickly even in the small portion of objects and also shoot perfect images while moving objects without losing focus. The traditional single lens camera can also allow bokeh effect on the pictures, thanks to Dual Pixel technology.

It is enabling the 24MP image sensor and is the first sensor in the industry to offer below 1.0μm pixel size which is exactly 0.9μm. It can be fit into smaller camera module for the premium smartphones. With a small pixel size, the Slim 2X7 sensor offers high color fidelity with less noise, which means it reduces the crosstalk and improves the light sensitivity. This ISOCELL sensor is equipped with a Tetracell technology which allows taking bright pictures in detail even in the dark environments. Using the re-mosic algorithm for bright environments, the Tecracell provides full resolution pictures and allowing consumers to use the same front camera to take photos in different lighting conditions.
