No More Software Support from Sony Mobile for Xperia S, ION, SL, Acro S, Go & More

Sony has announced that the old Xperia Smart phones will not be receiving any Software updates, as we know all the Android devices will have finite life and some day they will stop getting the updates because it really difficult to update all the Smart phones with so many devices coming to the market and even the case being the lack of hardware support for future updates.

Sony has listed few devices that will be stopped from receiving the updates and all these devices fall under the category which are aged more than year and half. The list of models falling under this are  Xperia arc S, Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion, Xperia acro S, Xperia go, Xperia P, Xperia J, Xperia miro, Xperia sola, Xperia tipo and Xperia U.

Xperia Android versions

All these devices are more than 18 months old with some being 2 years old. Most of these listed devices run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and others were running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It is disappointing news for all these handsets users but they can still try some Custom ROM’s on their device that can root.

Any how there is a good news for other Sony Xperia users as the Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V are awaiting their Android 4.3 update and other devices like the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1S, Xperia SP will be getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat update as earlier promised by Sony and later the Handsets like the Xperia C, Xperia L, Xperia M and probably Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V may also receive it in the second batch of rollout.

So is your device in the list of limited life or in the list of future updates? Lets us know which device you are using and make sure you check out both the lists of update roll-out, you may find out your device there. Stay tuned for more updates and do drop your comments in the comments section below for further queries.
