Sony Xperia S Android 4.0.4 ICS Upgrade 6.1.A.0.452 – Video Tutorial

Sony’s flagship model Xperia S has now been ported to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich available for download over the air. After announcing several devices in Quarter 1, Sony is just back of releasing them and also upgrading their existing phones to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the qualified smart phones. Among the various devices which have received the ICS upgrade are the Tablet P, Tablet S, Xperia Active, Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V, Xperia Ray, Android ICS upgrade to Xperia Mini, Mini Pro and Live with Walkman. Today the love of Ice Cream Sandwich has arrived to Xperia S handset. This would leave Xperia P and Xperia U which are still on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

The Sony Xperia S certainly beats Samsung Galaxy S II in competition and Android 4.0 will certainly bring out various important features. Among the features and enhancements included in this firmware upgrade are as follows –

Along with the improvements mentioned above, there is big improvements seen in addition of media applications which includes Walkman, Album and Movies app. The Walkman app replaces the Music Player app along with that it would be spotted with equalizer with social features allowing you to share your favorite content with your near and dear ones. The movie app is with new user interface and it has the entire intelligent database to grab the relevant info on the media that you are watching. The Album app allows you to browse through your media faster. This update has been pushed to the Sony Xperia S user and it will be available via the PC or the MAC via over the air. The update size is of 200 MB and the users are suggested to go with this upgrade procedure while you are connected with a Wi Fi internet connectivity.

How to Check for Update

Generally Sony sends out OTA notification for this upgrade and don’t worry even if you didn’t get an OTA upgrade message as you can check it out manually. To check out for the upgrade manually, on your phone you need to go to Menu > Settings and then About Phone. Now in the About Phone among the options select “Software Update” and then Tap on Check Now under Update to know whether updates are available or not.

If you still didn’t find any update for your phone then please try out using the PC Companion for Sony phones and check out the same. Still it says there is no update for your phone, then probably you need to wait for some more time as updates might not be released for your specific country.

This update is released gradually to all parts of the world where Xperia S is available and sad to hear that Sony didn’t comment on when it would arrive on respective countries or any schedule for the same.
