Apart from announcing their first Snapdragon 615 processor based smartphones, Sony Mobile also launched the upgrade to their last year’s selfie Smartphone, the Xperia C3, while the new Xperia C4 is sturdier, and sports upgraded specs. We are at the launch event in New Delhi to get you the exclusive scoop about the device. Below is our hands-on and quick review of the same.
Talking of the Physical Form Factor, the phone sports a 5.5″inch 1080P Display with Capacitive touchscreen. The prominent feature of this phone is the 5MP Front camera with Exmor R and flash, which makes it a Selfie Smartphone while the phone has the 13 MP Rear Camera. On the right, we have the On / Off toggle switch, Micro SD card slot with support up to 128 GB, Dual SIM Card Slot, Volume Rockers and the Camera toggle switch.
Talking about the App Drawer, the phone comes with many Sony branded applications and some bloatware like the Bigflix, AVG Protection, Line, Linkedin, etc. In terms of the OS, the phone comes with Android 5.0 i.e. lollipop out of the box.
The Xperia C4 comes with a bunch of wallpapers and themes to customize the looks but what’s interesting is the Album section that can be organized in many ways. There’s also a Small apps section that allows you to run applications in a floating window helpful for those who are using the phone with one hand and does not want to switch applications.
Let’s talk about the Camera, with a demo of the effects using the Front Camera since this is a Selfie Centric phone. There are some interesting live previews of the modes that add the effects instantly. Powered with a 13MP Sensor & an LED Flash, it comes with an array of Modes. The modes range from Superior Auto, which automatically optimizes everything while you get Manual Mode for the experts in the photography area. There are interesting AR Effects that we will be showcasing in the Camera Review separately.
This device does not have a big time specs sheet to compete with the Selfie phones like HTC One Eye. Although, you do get a processor that is super fast and we had tested it on Lenovo A7000. If the experience is anything like that, it is all worth it. Moreover, you get good cameras and build quality too.
This was the Hands-on and Quick Review of the Sony Xperia C4, which is a Selfie smartphone powered with a 1.7 GHz MediaTek MTK6752 Processor with a 2 GB RAM. We would be reviewing this phone in the coming days, stay tuned for the same.
