It’s Saturday and we hear good news from the Sony Development team as they have come up with good news that Xperia Ion smart phone is now been updated to the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system via the Over the Air update. As of now, most of the Xperia powered devices have been updated to Ice Cream Sandwich and only the LTE or few smart phones are left over for the update. For Xperia Ion LTE users the wait is over as the update is been rolled out officially.
Ice Cream Sandwich it’s a whole new different Android update from Gingerbread and Honeycomb available for both tablet PC and mobile phone. This update brings the Android version as the 4.0.4 which means that it has directly jumped instead of 4.0.3 and further more it implies that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be the next update available to this device but not too early. Once after the update is done, you can check for the version number as 6.1.E.1.19. This can be checked by going through Menu > Settings under the About Phone option.
Improvements & Enhancements
As expected that it will bring some better performance output and also includes the better battery management tool. Apart from that it includes the common Ice Cream Sandwich features like –

How to Update
Before updating you should ensure that you have enough battery on your device and once ready you need to connect your phone to the PC using the USB cable ensuring that the Sony PC Companion tool is installed. Once your phone is recognized by the PC Suite software, you would be automatically provided the update notification.
The users now need to follow the on screen instructions to apply the updates to their smart phones. Your phone would be restarted automatically in between twice to get this update delivered on to your device. According to the Xperia blog these update are right now available in Taiwan and Hong Kong only and it will be soon available in other regions as well.
