Sony announced its latest mid-ranger, the Xperia M4 Aqua, which is also their first smartphone sporting a Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor. At an event in New Delhi, the company launched this device, and we are present at the event to give you exclusive details about the device. It is priced at INR and would be competing with likes of Xiaomi Mi 4i, Oppo R5, and the recently launched ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini. Here’s our hands-on of the Xperia M4 Aqua.
Talking of the Physical Form Factor, the phone sports a 5″inch 720P Display with IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen. It comes packaged with a 13MP Camera on the rear and a 5MP Camera on the front. On the bottom, you have the Speaker Grill & a microphone while front you have the camera and the sensors. On the right, there’s the On / Off toggle switch, Nano SIM Card Slot, Volume Rockers and the Camera toggle switch. On the left, we have the Micro SD card slot with support up to 32 GB while on the Top there is the 3.5 mm headphone slot and a microphone.
Talking the software part the phone comes with Android 5.0 i.e. lollipop out of the box. In terms of the Internal Storage, it’s packed with a 16 GB Internal storage out of which around 10 GB would be available to you. The Notification area comes with a quick toggle option giving you access to most used short cuts, and the same can be customised.
The phone also comes powered with a few battery saver modes like the Stamina Mode, which saves power by restricting the hardware performance. There are other modes as well like the Ultra STAMINA mode and Low Battery Mode. You can customise the phone with different wallpapers and themes too. The Album app can be customised in different ways, while the Movies section is primarily for hosting the video files.
Talking about the Camera, powered with a 13MP Sensor & an LED Flash, it comes with an array of Modes. The resolution goes down from 13MP in 4:3 aspect ratio to 2MP. The modes range from Superior Auto, which automatically optimises everything while you get Manual Mode for the experts in the photography area. There are interesting AR Effects that we will be showcasing in the Camera Review separately. The front facing camera on the device is of 5 MP, which is as good as any other similar camera module, but with software enhancements.
There are almost half a dozen smartphones in India running on Snapdragon 615 processor, ranging from INR 9K to 30K. Few of the notable examples includes Yu Yureka, HTC Desire 820, Samsung Galaxy A7, and the pricey Oppo R5. But, if you consider the fact that M4 Aqua’s quality, as it being the top tier brand, one would unhesitatingly go with M4 Aqua.
