Sony had announced the new Sony Xperia ZL2 a few days back in Japan. The International variant of it, the Sony Xpria Z2a is now official, with the company announcing it in Taiwan. The new smartphone will be coming with the 5-inch Full HD display (1080×1920 pixels of screen resolution) and it’s the Triluminos display powered by X-reality.
There is no much difference between the variants, except for the fact that these are for the different markets. Just like the ZL2, the Z2a from Sony is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, a quad-core chipset clocking at 2.3 GHz, and this is supported by 3GB RAM. Running the Android 4.4 KitKat, the Sony Xperia Z2a has the similar interface which the high-end Sony Xperia smartphones are running on.
The smartphone has a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with the Exmor RS sensor, and it’s the Sony G Lens. The rear camera is capable of recording videos at 4K resolution. There is a LED flash support, and the camera app comes with a lot of effects and modes for capturing photos and videos. On the front side, there is a 3.1-megapixel shooter with the BSI sensor.
The Sony Xperia Z2a comes with the IP55 / IP58 certification for the water and dust resistance, and it is no different from the flagship Xperia Z2 in this aspect. The internal storage is 16GB and there is a MicroSD card slot for the storage expansion to a maximum of 128GB. Connectivity wise, the Xperia Z2a has the 4G LTE on 1800MHz, 700MHz and 900MHz bands, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. The phone has a non-removable 3000 mAh battery.
The Sony Xperia Z2a is going to be available from July in Taiwan, and then could be followed in the other markets, and the color options in which it would be available – Turquoise, White and Black colors. The pricing details are not known right now, and they would be announced prior to the launch of the phone in the market.
