Sony’s 2014 flagship model is here, and it is time for giving the initial impressions on it. Many are eagerly waiting for this device and will this device be an update over its predecessor? Well, all these things will be found out soon. The Xperia Z3 was unveiled in the IFA event, held in Berlin. We are into the last quarter of the year and almost all the flagship devices from other top brands have been released, so we will see this device will be competing against the device like the Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G3, Motorola Moto X (2014), HTC One M8 and many other devices. The company also showcased the compact version of its flagship device called as the Xperia Z3 Compact with a 4.7 inch screen size and also the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
The predecessor of the Xperia Z3 was one heck of a device with its elegant design but had sharp edges that created little problem while talking, but Sony has rectified its mistake, and the Xperia Z3 comes with curved edges. The device is glass finish on both the sides and metal frame to the sides. At the front, there is Sony’s branding just below the earpiece and a front facing camera of 2.2 MP.
The device has the three capacitive touch screen buttons onto the screen and has thin bezels to the sides, and there are speaker grills at the bottom. Towards the right side of the device, we can find the microSD card slot and with a clamp to protect from water and dust. And there are also power buttons and volume rockers on the same side, below which there is a dedicated camera button. To the right of the device, the USB slot which is also covered with a flap and there is also a loophole to insert tags. On the top, there is a normal 3.5 mm audio jack also.
The Sony Xperia Z3 will run Android KitKat operating System out of the box and will come with 5.2 inches full HD display with a pixel density of 424 ppi. Same screen size and ppi was seen in its predecessor. Sony’s famous TRILUMINOS display for mobile is used for better viewing experience, and there is X-reality technology for mobile picture engine to enhance the viewing of images and videos.
The Sony Xperia Z3 is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with a clocking speed of 2.5 GHz. We have seen the same processor being used in most of the flagship devices of this year. There is 3 GB of RAM as it was in the case of the Xperia Z2 and it accompanied with an Adreno 330 GPU. The on-board memory of the device is at 16 / 32 GB that can be further extended up to a maximum of 128 GB via microSD card slot.
Well, we know Sony is famous for its cameras, and like its predecessor Z2, the Xperia Z3 will also have a 20.7 MP rear-facing auto focus camera, with LED flash. The rear camera is also capable of recording 4K videos and has a 2.2 MP front facing camera for video calling and selfies. Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, GPRS, NFC and others are also available. There is a non-removable 3100 mAh battery on the back of the device, and will be giving a talk time up to 16 hours and standby time up to 920 hours.
We had heating issues on the Xperia Z2, so we hope that we will not face the same thing with Xperia Z3 also. I am pretty much excited to use this device and will be coming with the complete review of this device after using it for few days. You have any questions about this device?
