Steps to Remove Entire Android Contacts from Phone

You might just be surprised on why we are writing an article on how to delete the contacts from your Android, the reason being on why we are covering this article is that in Android by default there is no option to delete multiple contacts. So, in this article we will see the same and look out on how you can delete multiple contacts in your Android phone. Again, if you have synced all your contacts with the Gmail or even the facebook or twitter then you will see that there are multiple contacts which are being created in your contact list and in this case you may want to delete the contacts which are duplicated.

So, many times since it’s impossible to delete each and every single contact manually after checking, merging and what not individually, we may want to have an option wherein one can delete the contacts in the multiple manner. Please note that before proceeding to the procedure on how you can update your phone, it is recommended that you create a backup of all your contacts which are there in your phone as just in an unlikely event if you end up losing all the precious contacts then you should be in a position to retrieve them all. Also, we hold no responsibility for your lost contacts once you decide the same to delete as if you follow each and every instruction which is mentioned below then there will be hardly any case wherein you will face any issues or problems.

Procedure to remove contacts:

First up you will have to go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and then tab on the “All”. Now after this you will have to find an entry called “Contacts Storage” after which tap on the same to open it. Now, all you need to do is to just tap on the option which is called as “Clear data” after which you will see that all your contacts are removed successfully.

    I too have the clear data greyed out. This article though informative was very poorly written, Hard to read and follow.
    This website has so many ads its hard to read and load. Poor on both fronts.

    The “Clear data” is gray and inoperable. So frustrating. I even downloaded a special “Delete Contacts” app and it keeps shutting off. I despise my Android.

      Look for MiniContacts at Google Play store (Android 3.0+): it allows you to delete any contact easily, even by groups with one click (for example all those originated by gmail or by LinkedIn).
      But remember to disable the synchronization before if they are from external source, or they will reappear when synchronizing again.
      You can also export to CSV (and import) the contacts+phone numbers…
