Twitter’s official Android app isn’t the best out there, and we could easily call the Carbon for Android a better alternative to this, but the official app has been getting a few updates, and the latest one might make you a bit interested in trying this out. The latest update, to the version 5.0.11 brings in a few features such as a better login verification, more options for photo editing – such as adding effects, cropping and rotating the image and there are a few other improvements too.
Changes in the new Twitter update:
- Better login verification
- Improvements to the photo cropping and image rotation
- Easily mention other users when you Tweet a photo
- When you’ve read all the latest Tweets, pull to refresh and see recommendations for new content on Twitter
To explain it in a better way, when you upload a photo on Twitter and if it has a few faces, the Twitter app would remind you to tag your friends before you post it. Pretty good, but don’t know how responsive this would be, because the normal photos didn’t remind us for the tagging.
Just tapping on the photo that you uploaded, would put a @ along with the list of people you can easily mention, or you have to type the twitter username of the person you wanted to tag.
There are better image editing features, which include the cropping of the photo, rotating it and adding effects to it, just like you do in Instagram, so this is quite handy for those who were using a separate app to edit the photo, and later tweeting it.
Apart from the above changes, there’s the new recommendations when you Pull to refresh. Earlier when you pulled the twitter feed down to refresh it, it was just the new tweets shown, but now the recommendations on who to follow, the recommended tweets and the trending topics would be shown.
So overall this is quite a neat update to the app, where tweeting hasn’t much changed and it really didn’t need any change, but there are enhancements to the photo editing, recommendations etc.
