The interesting Chinese smartphone maker, UMi is known for making value for money smartphones that come with decent specifications at affordable prices. The brand has been in the news for a while now about the launch of the UMi Zero 2 which will be the successor of UMi Zero smartphone that launched earlier this year. The earlier rumors about the UMi Zero 2 suggested the device will sport an e-ink display like the Yotaphones but will surely not, as the latest teasers confirm the smartphone instead will come with powerful specifications.
The UMi Zero 2 will feature a 5.2-inch (2560×1440 pixels) 2K Super AMOLED display with pixel density of 564ppi. The device will come powered by MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The UMi Zero 2 once unveiled will become one of the first smartphones to pack a deca-core processor.
The smartphone is expected to include dual rear-facing cameras among them one is for regular image capture, and the other will give DSLR-like effect. The design of the smartphone mostly resembles the Meizu MX5, with full metal body and oval-shaped physical home button. Apart from this, no other specifications of the device are revealed. The UMi Zero 2 is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2016 and is expected to be priced around $299 making it most affordable handset featuring such premium specifications.
To recap, UMi has recently launched an entry-level smartphone called as UMi Rome in China priced at $89. The smartphone features 5.5-inch HD display, MediaTek MT6735 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 13MP Sony IMX164 rear camera with dual LED flash, 2MP front shooter with flash and 4G-LTE connectivity. The handset comes backed by a 2500mAh battery and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
