How to Update AT&T Galaxy Note i717 with ICS Cyanogen Mod 9 Firmware

Cyanogen mod logoCyanogen Mod 9 Firmware arrives for Samsung Galaxy NOTE i717 smartphone and in the due course of this article we will be checking out on how you can apply this firmware in your device. Cyanogen mod 9 ropes in the latest version of ICS Android 4.0 and in the coming days we will be checking out on how to update with the upcoming Cyanogen mod 10 which will rope in the latest Jellybean 4.1 release of firmware. In the process of applying this update, you will have to root your AT&T powered Galaxy Note, once the device is rooted, the warranty will get void. The only way with which the warranty can be restored is by re applying the official firmware of ICS in your device by following the corresponding instructions mentioned in the link.

All the data in your AT&T powered Galaxy Note should be backed up so that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored easily. With the help of below steps you can back up the data. Don’t use KIES to back up the data as it won’t detect the custom ROM firmwares.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log –Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

Battery level in your device should not be less than 40% or else it will interrupt the process of firmware update and may even brick the device. Download Drivers for Galaxy Note from here. 32 bit (x86) Windows  |   64-bit (x64) Windows. Enable the USB Debugging Mode from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”
