Update Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 to ACE PDA:KC1 Firmware

Another official update from the Samsung Team has arrived which allows you to upgrade your Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 to the latest version ie PDA:KC1 / PHONE:KC1 /CSC:KC1. To get started you need to first ensure that you have backed up all the data on your device to a external media though the software update would ensure that its backed up again.

Next connect your phone to the computer and run the Samsung Kies application which you should be first upgrading to the latest Kies version. If you want to upgrade to any other specific version then check out the following links first.

First of all you would be shown with a message box alerting about the upgrade which is possible.

Samsung Kies Update Notification

Once you accept the same, the Kies application will backup your contacts onto the local HDD and then start downloading file for firmware upgrade. You need to ensure that you do not disconnect the cable connected to the PC. Once the files download is completed you will find that they would be transferred to your device and the progress bar would display the same on your computer screen. After the upgrade is complete you can go through the Phone Settings > About Phone and confirm if the firmware update was successful or not.

I was able to update to 2.3.6 PDA:KQ8 on my GT-S5830 but the phone now seems to behave erratically. When i insert my earphone, the phone’s touch-screen seizes to work; the phone just hangs and starts to heat up! Despite removing the headphone, the phone remains locked and doesnt respond to the Tocuh-screen and power button. The only option was to remove the battery and restart. this issue is consistent.

this doesn’t work if you have done the gingerbread firmware upgrade. At least it doesn’t in my case the gingerbread version is PDA:KP9.
