How to Update Galaxy ACE S5830 with Droid ACE v2.1 Firmware
Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830 smartphone can now be installed with the latest version of Cyanogen mod 7.2 custom ROM firmware which is further optimized for best performance and best user interface. Please be informed that this is not an Official firmware version released by Samsung Electronics and unfortunately there won’t be any other higher Official firmware updates like ICS 4.0 or Jellybean 4.1 firmware updates. All thanks to the users who have come across this custom ROM firmware and reported to us, also we are thankful to the XDA recognized developer masterex567 who has come across this firmware. The name of the firmware is Droid ACE and ropes in the latest Cyanogen Mod 7.2 firmware.
Update (16/10/2012): There is an all new release which has now been rolled out by DROID ACE Team of which we have mentioned the change log below. This new version is dubbed as v2.1.

In the process of this article we have also mentioned below the screen captures on how this firmware looks like. In the coming few days, there will be newer versiosn of this firmware which too will be reviewed on Android Advices. Please note that this works only on the rooted devices. To check on whether your Galaxy ACE is rooted or not, you need to check the same from the app called “Root Checker” which can be downloaded from Google PLAY Store. If your device is not rooted then you can update your ACE with DDKQ8 and then root the same by using the below mentioned steps,

Disclaimer: We should not be held liable for any damage caused in the process of applying this update process in your Galaxy ACE S5830. It is very unlikely that your device will be damaged if you follow all the instructions to the point which are mentioned in procedure.
Data in your Galaxy ACE will be wiped off completely, so it’s better to back up the data with the help of below steps so that if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below steps.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log -Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
Minimum of 60% battery should be there in your phone so as to make sure that it doesn’t turn Off in the middle of rooting update. Enable the USB Debugging in your Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830 from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked.
So once you have followed all the above mentioned steps you can now proceed to the next page where we have summed up a detailed guide on how to apply this firmware update.

I tried this.. but my phone was just damaged.. it gets while opening sometimes and sometimes it just keeps on restarting.. it never opens.. what should i do?? how do i revert back to the old version??
I am not from the site .. but it happened with me .. hust enter CWM and choos wipe data / factor reset .. it will work
cannot make cyanogen settings worked but everything works fine except for cyanogen settings

yes camera is working except for some add ins like flashlight etc

Cyanogen Mod settings works, all you need to do is flash the cyanogen mod settings fix from the second post in op. and for dsp just disable it in applications.

how supposed to install this? it is a rar file and not zip. it doesnt show up when i try to install it
extract the rar file and put all 3 on sd
first u have to extract files using winrar or some other tools n then select that particular file

don’t flash from ics first flash stock from odin then flash this rom, it’s not a wip

Thanks guys, I got it running, but when I’m trying to open CyanogenMod settings an error popup that process com.android.settings was closed. Any ideas why is that? Also the flashlight doesn’t work – same process unexpected closed

I have a serious issues with Ace its completely looking dead when i use clock work recovery software…what i did i dont know ….but the result is my phone get dead …anyone has idea what happened with my phone …..Suggestions are welcome

Will you plz guide me as I ended up bricking my device with a screen written android on it and it comes nothing there after. At present I have Android version 2.3.6 and Base band version S5830DDKQ8. I tried many times not only with this version but with such number of mod. versions by installing from SD card in recovery mode but every time my device got bricked. The device is not booting and ends up with a screen written ANDROID on it or a blank screen & there after no response. Again I had to flash my device with official firmware using ODIN flashing tool..
Im currently using 4.0.1 , The myth, (Baseband: DDKQ8) in my GT S5830 mobile.
Can any one tel me, is this useful to upgrade this firmeware?? Can i directly upgrade from myth..??

yes you can apply the update, install the recovery from the ROM Manager app from Google PLAY Store

you can root the device on the DDKQ8 update
connect the phone to pc with usb cable and transfer the same.
Tried several times but after applying update from sd card and rebooting my galaxy ace (rooted) could not power up, always a black screen with android written in center flashed. please help…………….

This rom is too good, I have been using from past 1 week. I see no lags in camera, bluetooth or wifi everything works seamlessly. But, there is one issue with headset. On incoming calls while on headset i cannot hear other person. Is there anything that i need to do to fix this..
