Let’s head to the detailed pre requisites which one has to follow so as to facilitate smoother firmware update.

It’s highly recommended that you back up all the data present in your phone so that if by chance the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps. With the help of below mentioned steps, you can easily back up the data. Don’t use the PC Suite tools to back up the data as KIES doesn’t detect device in custom ROM firmwares.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log -Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, you need to enable the USB Debugging Mode. Ensure that the USB Debugging Mode is enabled in your device. You can check whether your device is rooted or not with an App called “Root Checker” which can be downloaded from the PLAY Store.

Your Galaxy SII should be rooted and the minimum charge left in your phone should be 60% so as to ensure that the device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update. Full USB write / read access should be there in your computer.

Disable or Uninstall all the security suites present in your device as these tools interrupt the process of custom ROM firmware installation.

So assuming that you have followed all the instructions mentioned above, you can now proceed to the next page where we have summed up a detailed guide on how you can apply this firmware update.
