Does anyone else experience the same email problem I mentioned last month? None of my internet mailaccounts, hotmail, gmail, sync well with the server. receiving email is no problem, but delelting them only deletes them from my phone.
Please let me know if anyone has a solution for this problem? Evrything worked well on 2.3.6.

What is the best ICS for North America (canada) xxlpq or xxlps ? Or should I stay on Gingerbread? when ICS is released in Canada can you put up a version of it here? I don’t have the stock kernel anymore so I don’t know if I’ll be able to do the official update.

After I upgraded to icecream my galaxy s2 became very unstable and would reset itself often. I downgraded to gingerbread 2.3.6. All is good again.

If i’m already on an official ICS 4.0.3 but want to update to another one say this one, can update without having to do the last step of wiping data and cache partition?

When i do wipe partition i find that i have to customize and in some case add my account to a lot of my apps over again. I have close to 200 apps (not all apps are affected by this) so its very time consuming, maybe there’s away around that?

    Hi Pradeep,

One thing I would like to see changes is that whenever we do any of the upgrade firmware, I always have a problem to put back together the apps in the correct order or page. Would it be cool and exciting if these apps pages can automatically synchronised back the same as what it was set previously on your phone.

    Thank you.

I dont like call log & contacts are split in this version. I dont know about previous ICS versions, but It was together in gingerbread, and it was much faster to switch between. Hope samsung will change it back in future updates.

    Hi Neela:

Your clear and lucid instructions helped. My upgrade from Gingerbread 2.3.6 to ICS XXLPS 4.0.3 went off very smoothly.

My Galaxy S2 is faster and the UI is vastly improved, almost in all applications. That was quite surprising for me.

All my 96 Apps (about 16 PAID ones) got installed without any effort, the moment I logged into my GMAIL.

The excellent “MyBackUp-Pro” helped me restore all my SMSes and CONTACTS seamlesslessly.

BUT, BUT, now for the PROBLEMS –>

1./ The battery gets discharged twice as fast as before. (In RECOVERY Mode, I have cleared cache and doe WIPE/RESET). Also heats up a bit.
2./ The worst part is the EDGE/3G usage. In MAIL, I have configured my corporate EXchange email as before, In Gingerbread it worked beautifully and data usage was moderate. NOW, an application called EXCHANGE SERVICES is sucking my bandwidth quota at the rate of nearly 100MB per hour and I have already had 2 3G plans worth 600 bucks disappear just like that.
I have downgraded to a relatively cheap 2G plan, but that too is getting depleted very fast.

I have purchased 3G Watchdog Pro to monitor data usage and the findings match with the native ICS Data Usage feature.

I have tweaked all EXCHANGE settings such as Sync Options such as Peak/Off-peak schedule to 1 hour, Period to sync — only 3 days and yet there is some background data transfer which is sucking my internet plans.

    Please HELP !

      An Update…

I have been furiously looking for a solution and finally I found one!

The ERRANT rascal application was none other than HOTMAIL!, which was making the Exchange Services to consume data at nearly 200MB/day.
This is the official Hotmail application for Android and I request people to stay miles away from it. It is pure evil.
I wonder if Microsoft attempted to plant a cuckoo’s egg in the Google Play market place.
I uninstalled it now and my Galaxy S2 runs like a song on Android ICS 4.0.3.

Now, only the battery discharge issue remains. I hope there is fix for the same, as this issue also seems universal.

Neela, pls see if you can help here by bringing us the next ICS update for Android ASAP.
      Tx

hello, I am using native mail services and have the very same issue as described above, unfortunately have no idea how to solve it, in GB the Exchange services data usage was moderate, now only after upgrading to ICS the usage is 1MB a minute. Could you please help. Thank you

Hi I wonder if anyone else has had my issue and knows a fix. I have updated my phone from lpq to lps both give me the same problem. Everything works perfect except now when i long press the power button my phone just turns off. When i turn on slide lock or face lock these do not work either. the same when i turn on sim lock. putting a password in does lock the phone but i have to manually go in to enter the key rather than being prompted.

    Thanks

Hi, I installed ICS XXLPS for samsung SII, which is the latest one? So far there are three ICS firmwares on this site.

Can someone please explain the difference between them?

XXLPQ = correct me if im wrong but was the first stock release to Europe?

    XXLPS? and XWLP3?

Can someone provide a quick overview of the difference between the firmwares?

    • Pradeep Neela

      April 8, 2012 at 9:45 pm

there are minor security fixes in XXLPS

      • Tung

        April 9, 2012 at 5:58 am

So that does mean XXLPS is the latest firmware so far? Because I have noticed that XXLPS doesn’t have 3d home screen scrolling? where as I seen on youtube XWLP3 has the 3d scrolling (as seen on proper ICS devices).

has anyone installed XXLP3 or XXLPQ and notice 3d home screen scrolling?

        • mohd

          May 8, 2012 at 8:46 am

Yes. I install XXLPQ before XXLPS and there was 3d scrolling.. as you said XXPLS does not have 3d scrolling either, only full 360 deg 2d scrolling.

Touch sensitivity is better than xxlpq. More stable. To reset counter just download triangle away from blackmart alpha

  31. JuJuBi

    April 4, 2012 at 7:11 pm

oh yes, usage of 3G and WIFI will also cause the phone to heat up drastically. no issues of such in 2.3.6 gingerbread. still not that stable. and my comment will not be posted too.

  32. JuJuBi

    April 4, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Dunno if my update will be posted or not.

I installed this update and everything works as it should. only 1 major setback is that everytime there are apps using graphics eg draw something or wathcing videos, the phone will heat up and the battery life will be sucked out dramatically. as in 70% to 20% in less than 20 minutes. the phone is heat up drastically. perhaps you need to address the file that controls the graphics processing unit. GPU.

i have downgraded back to 2.3.6 gingerbread which is the best so far. all the others have bugs in them. will clearing the cache solve the issue or is it just one of the “may-solve-the-problem” steps? hope my question gets posted.

        • JaideepC

          April 12, 2012 at 6:51 am

Yes., I am too going to downgrade itback to 2.3.6, which was probably the best of the Android firmware fr GS2.

ICS is great, but dont think the upgrade on GS2 is tested enough,

Although the UI is very attractive and touch experience very good, I am having severe issues with EXCHANGE SERVICES using excessive bandwidth, nearly at the rate of 100 -150MB per day; even with Manual PUSH, only 3 -days of email sync.

So corporate peeps, please BEWARE of ICS XXLPS 4.0.3.. IT JUST A’INT THERE YET !
Neela, will appreciate if u have some sort of a FIX for this.

I really would hate to go back to Gingerbread, byt cannot afford to buy GPRS/3G plans each day.

By the way, ICS has some super cool features like limiting the background activity to Wifi only.
However, pleas be informed that it does not work.

I hope we get patched release of ICS, else I am moving about town with my DATA NETWORK MODE deactivated, which is such a shame.

I WANT TO go back to 2.3.6 because many functions I like don’t work on this version. The contacts is a mess and won’t let me edit it. This version won’t let me do screen capture with neither one of the software I have installed inclusind one I Paid for previously. I know I can do screen cap pressing the home and power button BUT it’s stupid to keep pressing the buttons all the time when I can use atoch screen software to do it. Download/purchase “Triangle Away” from Android market. this will reset the binary count and also remove the yellow triangle which appears after rooting the device. PS this application only works on rooted galaxy s2 gt19100.

          Thanks!

Thanks! I managed to update to the new firmware. But I don’t like THAT the letters are smaller on the home page. It was already too small on firmware 2.3.5

Are the minor differences worth the bother of upgrading again? Release notes would be useful, but hey a million dollars would be too but thats not going to happen either:-(

If your handset is rooted you can get an app from the Android Market called Triangle Away, it removes the Yellow triangle and/or the custom counter.

WARNING!!! Read the instructions very carefully as this software can brick your phone.
