How to Update Galaxy S3 I9300 with XXDLI6 Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware
Samsung Galaxy S3 GT I9300 users who are still awaiting the jellybean 4.1.1 firmware update can now take out their phones as in this article we will be checking out on how to upgrade your phones with the latest XXDLI6 firmware update. Please note that as of now there is no Official firmware yet of Jellybean 4.1.1 built for Galaxy S3 but this new release is very stable and comes with a better modem. In the last firmware versions that are in DLI4 and DLI5 updates, some users reported about issues related to overheating and also some users reported heavy battery drain.

Note: This is not an Official firmware version released globally by SAMSUNG but is a test release which was leaked from SAMSUNG and may come up with minor bugs.
Quick pre Requisites:
Not with the KIES but with the help of below mentioned steps, backup all the data present in your phone so as to make sure that if by any chance the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”

Battery level should be more than 50% or else your S3 might get turned Off in the middle of firmware update. Also, disable all the security suites so that they don’t interfere with the firmware update process. If you are on any custom ROM firmware, disable all the lag fixes in your device from the recovery mode and clear all the data.

Procedure to Update Galaxy S3 with Jellybean 4.1.1 XXDLI6 firmware update:
- Download Odin and XXDLI6 Firmware Package from here to your computer. Extract both the files in your computer and open Odin in your computer.
- Turn off your S3 so that it can be turned ON in the download mode. Download mode in Galaxy S3 GT I9300 can be entered by pressing the Volume Down rocker key + power button at the same time while the device is turned Off. If the device starts in the normal mode, you need to re try the process of the entering the device into the download mode.
- In download mode, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and click on “PDA” in Odin to select the tar file “I9300XXDLI5_I9300OXADLI5_I9300XXDLI5_HOME.tar.md5”. Ensure that the ID : COM section in Odin has turned yellow.
Note: If ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below,
Install the USB Drivers in your computer &
Go to the Path “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked before connecting the phone to the computer.
- Click on “Ok” to start the process of firmware update. As soon as the firmware is updated successfully, the phone will reboot automatically. Please note that it may take longer time than expected for rebooting the device as it’s the first reboot after the firmware update.
Note: If the device gets into the boot loop sequence or say gets stuck in the welcome screen, just re insert the battery and re follow the above instructions so as to again follow the above mentioned instructions.
