Procedure to Update Galaxy S3 with XXDLI7 Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware:

  • Download XXDLI7 Firmware Package from here to your computer. Connect your phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable and place the zip file in your device’s memory card.
  • Disconnect the device once the file is copied in the computer and turn off the device so that it can be entered in the recovery mode. Recovery mode in Galaxy S III GT I9300 can be entered by holding the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button).
  • In recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the placed XXDLI7 Firmware Package. Once the file selection is over, the firmware will be applied within 10 minutes, you can see the progress of firmware update with the help of a progress bar.
  • As soon as the firmware is applied successfully, you will have to select “Go Back” to select the option of “reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode.

Note: Just in a rare case if your Samsung Galaxy S III refuses to turn ON or say if it gets stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S3 Logo then you need to long press the power button to turn off the same or re insert the battery to start the process from the start.

  • If you get any force close errors, then turn off the device and enter the device in the recovery mode to select the options of clear cache and wipe data as it will clear out all the cache data which are responsible for force close errors.

To check now on whether the firmware has been updated or not, head over to the path “Settings > About Phone” and see whether it reads XXDLI7 firmware version 4.1.1 or not. Do let us know if you come across any issues in the process of applying the firmware update. So there you go, you have now successfully upgraded your Galaxy S3 with the latest Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware update.

        Ah, maybe that’s where I went wrong? I went into recovery mode, but there is no “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card”.

        -After copying the file noted above from my computer to the phone’s external SD
        -I turn the phone off
        -Press volume-up button, center button, power button to get into recovery mode
        -In recovery mode there is only: “reboot system now”, “apply update from external storage”, “wipe data/factory reset”, “wipe cache partition”, and “apply update from cache”

        There is no “install zip from sd card”. So, I tried “apply update from external storage” and that’s when I got the above Status 7 error.

    Hi there

    I just wanted to confirm two things:

    -Do I need to have an external memory card to place the zip file on or can I use the phone’s internal memory card?

    -Odin is not needed in this case, correct?

    Thank you

    Installing update. . .
    assert failed: file_getprop(“/system/buildprop”, “”) == “samsung/m0xx/m0:4.0.4/IMM/60/I9300XXBLG8:user/release-keys”||g/m0xxx/m0:4.1.1/JRO 03C/I9300XXDLI7:user/release-keys”

    E:Error in /tmp/sideload/

    Note: from (assert failed) to the second instance of (release-keys”) is one cc continuous line.

    Well, I could not get this to run 🙁 Moreover, I now find that when I try to use the Polish keyboard, the keys go absolutely NUTS! When I hit some letter, some other letter gets selected entirely at random. I reinstalled LI5 and the error did not go away. I then installed LI6 again and still the same problem. My other keyboards (English, German) work okay, but not Polish. Could someone please help me and give me some hints on what I could do next? Thanks!

    Can’t update with this firmware. Finger print error is displayed during updation

    September 17, 2012 at 1:14 pm

    The error came back even AFTER I cleared the user data and the cache. It’s s really long error message:

    assert failed: file_getprop(“system/buildprop”.””) == samsung…

    Error (can’t make it out) /tmp/…/
    (Section 7)

    But then then device booted properly…

    Got an error on installing the .ZIP file from the phone SD (not external) card! It wouldn’t go through the entire .ZIP installation 🙁 – is this possibly due to the cache errors you describe above?
