I’m curious about the portability of this firmware. The article refers to the Galaxy S III throughout. However, it’s specifically referring to the I9300, which is the international model with a different CPU. Are you stating that this update will only work on the I9300 & no other variants of the GS3?

then sir why does it have Super User application which works and why does it say custom and not official samsung in downloading mode and also showing custom binary count = 1 and also upon checking for updates on samsung account, it says “modified”. or u can just download root checker from google play and check. what this is, is a pre rooted odin flashable rom. if i had checked XDA before i couldve been saved but now as i cant even go back to 4.1.1 official or any other offical to un-root my phone, im stuck. thank you.

hey people. i’v got the aussie version it says gt-I9300 in the model number in the about device. Rom went on fine and most things seem to work but the microphone doesnt work during calls. works on skype, works with voice recordings etc. if someone calls me the speaker doesnt work either. tried hands-free and speaker phone doesnt make a difference.

The instruction to enter the download mode is totally wrong.
    Please correct.
Otherwise the update is working fine.
    Good job.

On my India bought Galaxy S3, I has this notification that update is available. After updating to 4.1.1. (Build No: JRO03C.19300XXDLK1, my battery life which used to last 18 – 20 hours has been completely destroyed. It hardly lasts 4 -5 hours nowand there is some strange daemon called UPSD which is consuming 45%.

After killing REMOTE CONTROL, uninstalling AllShare etc etc the battery life has improved to 8 hours.

However the screen gets hot and the SCREEN is consuming 67%.

I am cursing myself for going in for the JB update.

Can I roll back to 4.0.1 which was so stable and gave excellent battery life.
Maybe I miss some minor bells and whistles. The much touted Project Butter is indeed noticeable after JB update, but maybe 5-10%.

I am willing to sacrifice this 5-10% improvement for screen response time for 24-26 hours of superb battery life.

Alternately, if it is not possible to downgrade, WILL THIS 4.1.2 Multiview Powered XXELK4 firmware package SOLVE my batter drain issue?

    Please advise ASAP

“Applying this firmware update won’t root the device in any manner.” Are you sure about it? because after I applied this firmware, SAMSUNG Service Center says my phone has been rooted and warranty is invalid when I gave my phone over some battery charging issues.
