Over a period of this article we will be checking out on how you can install this all new custom ROM firmware in your device with the help of essential pre requisites and a detailed tutorial in the next page. This firmware is based on the XWJW4 firmware version and to apply this update, you need to ensure that you are on the rooted firmware.

Disclaimer: Neither we, nor developer should be held responsible for any damage happened to your device in the process of following the instructions mentioned in this article. It’s very unlikely that there will be any issues but just in case if at all there are any issues then we are committed to help you in solving the same.

Essential Pre Requisites:

  • All the data present in your Galaxy S should be backed up so that just in case if any data is lost or corrupted, the same can be easily restored with the help of below mentioned steps. Don’t use any PC Suite to back up the data, as it will not recognize the device after the update since it’s a custom ROM firmware.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Disable all the antivirus suites in your computer and uninstall the same in your device as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.
  • Minimum charge left in the device should be at least 60% so as to ensure that device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • Enable the USB Debugging in your Samsung Galaxy S from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked as shown in the below screen capture.

USB Debugging

We assume that you have followed all the instructions which are mentioned above, you can now proceed to the next page where we have summed up a detailed article on how you can apply this firmware in your phone.

I was on XXJW4 official firmwire value pack and has rooted it. Now I just installed the Gamerz ROM yesterday. Its AWESOME. The Perfomance, battery backup, …etc are really STUNNING. One Problem I have noted is I can not add Facebook contacts. So i don’t get the profile pics of facebook friends. In the Earlier versions it was syncing well.

Hey man, I figured it was just the player thats messing up the sounds. Uninstalled the stock music player. Enjoying Cubed and Doubletwist.

and I also wanna add the issue about 3G settings. Couldnt use it.
only 2 flaws, front camera and Packet data problems. Still, GamerzRom is such a treat!

    Hi Pradeep,

I have been using GamerzRom V10 for almost a month.
So far its doing good. As stated, there are issues with my front camera, I cant take a picture. Not like when I had the Gingerbread, but I can use the front camera for Skype, and other messaging apps.

One huge thing that bothers me is the music player. When it comes to playing games, sound quality is great, same with movies. But when I’m listening to my mp3s, sound quality is not pleasant at all. Its like being inside a huuuge, looong pipeline. (Note: all sound effects, equalizers are off) I compared it with that of Galaxy Ace on Gingerbread 2.3.6, works fine. The Galaxy S with GamerzRom, sound is not good.

I tried installing PowerApp. Sound quality is still unbearable for me. I use the music player almost everyday, but due to this, I had to use another gadget to listen to my music files.

I’m thinking of re-flashing, but Im hoping to have a quick solution to this because I like GamerzRom very much. Please help.

I was on the XXJVU rom and I tried to put this custo rom .
Everything was perfect till the custom rom(gigerbread). then when I put the firmware ie. the ICS on the boot screen i found a lot of red lines…which means the firmware is corrupted….

So, I highly recomened not to put this rom….its worthless.

Hi. I’m using gamerz rom v10. I think that v9 better than v10. When i tested on v9 with quadrant standart, the test score was about 2600. But now, i tested on v10, the score is about 1300-1500. There are different between JVU and JW4

Firmware version reads 2.3.6 and Kernel version reads stratosk@semaphore. Is that correct? Everything thing runs great so far but had to install a couple of times for it to work properly. Not much of an advantage over rooted XXWJW4 that I can see. Much better than DarkKnight or other ICS-based ROMS I’ve tried. Still waiting for official ICS for my ancient Galaxy S. All apps and all music plays no prob.

Installed successfully. I must say it’s not very stable. sometimes it gets very slow and even stalled several times. The previous v6.2 is very stable and fast. I have now switched to amestris 7.3 instead. No problems so far.

I am currently using Dark Knight ROM (4.04). It’s really excellent except two things: After using airplane mode, I sometimes can’t get my 2G / 3G to work, which is annoying but not a big deal. The bigger problem is that I can’t install a few apps (for example Viber). Those apps seem to be incompatible with my phone, Google play won’t let me install them. It’s not LCD density, and I also edited my build.prop file so my Galaxy S appears to be a Nexus S, but without success.
Therefore, do you have any suggestions how to fix this? If not, which other ROM do you recommend?
