How to Update HTC Desire Z with Cyanogen mod 10 Jellybean 4.1 Firmware

htc desire logoIt was the last time when we saw on how you can install the Gingerbread 2.3 release with the help of Cyanogen mod 7 firmware but now in this tutorial you will be delighted to know that you can no accommodate the latest jellybean 4.1.1 firmware update which is still a half-baked version. Unfortunately, HTC will not be coming up with the Official firmware update any more whether it’s ICS or say Jellybean. Jellybean 4.1 ropes in the latest apps by default and also the stock apps are updated to the latest firmware version.

Disclaimer: Don’t apply this update in your network locked devices or else it may lock the devices or may even brick the device. Please note that this is not an official firmware and it’s a custom ROM firmware. Also, we should not be held responsible for any damage happened to your device due to not following the instructions mentioned.

Note: This update is just applicable for the HTC Desire Z device and not to any other phone. If you continues to apply this update in any other phone, then it will brick the device.

Express Pre Requisites:

  • Backup all the data in your HTC Desire Z so as to make sure that if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps. Once you back up the files, move all the target backup files in your computer.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • All the antivirus tools should be disabled and also it should be uninstalled as these tools interrupt the firmware update. USB Debugging Mode should be enabled in your device. Minimum battery life should not be less than 50% or else it will turn off the device in the middle of firmware update.
  • To check whether the device is rooted or not, download the “Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store and then check whether the device is rooted or not, if not you need to root the same.
