APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, enable the USB Debugging by selecting the appropriate option. After this, disable all the antivirus suites installed in your phone as these tools generally interrupt the process of firmware update. Also, ensure that the battery level is not less than 50% or else the device will get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.

Procedure to Update HTC Desire with ICS based AOKP Firmware Update:
- Download AOKP Firmware Package and Google Apps Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your htc desire with the computer and place these two files in your device. There are few other optional packages like Google Now which too can be downloaded and copied to the htc desire device as it can be applied in the recovery mode which will be explained in the next step.
- After placing the files, disconnect the HTC Desire device and turn off the device so that it can be entered in the recovery mode. The recovery mode in htc Desire can be entered by pressing the Volume Down button + Power Button till you see the recovery mode screen on your phone.
- In recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the placed AOKP Firmware package and Google Apps. Once the file selection is over, the firmware will be applied within 10 minutes, you can see the progress of firmware update with the help of a progress bar. Please note that while restarting the device, it will take longer time than expected since its the first reboot after application of firmware. Just in a rare case if you face force close issues then you can get into the recovery mode and clear the cache and wipe the data.
