How to Update HTC One X with Latest MIUI v2.5.18 Custom ROM Firmware

htc one x logoMIUI seems to be becoming the new favorite after Cyanogen Mod 9 firmware releases and on the similar lines, we will be checking out on how one can easily update the latest version of v2.5.18 in your all new HTC One X smartphone. Before you proceed to install this firmware, one has to ensure that HTC One X is Rooted and installed with Clock Work Mod recovery image. Please note that this is not an Official firmware update released by HTC and is a custom ROM firmware. Once the device is rooted and installed with the custom recovery image, the warranty gets void. The only way with which one can revoke the root access is by re applying the official update.

Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your device will be lost, so it’s highly recommended to back up the data so that just in case if the data is lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps. Don’t use HTC Sync to back up the data.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log –Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Minimum charge left in the device should be at least 60% so as to ensure that device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • Disable all the antivirus suites in your computer and uninstall the same in your device as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.
  • Enable the USB Debugging in your HTC One X from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked.
