How To Update LG Optimus One P500 with Gingerbread 2.3.4 Firmware
Procedure to update LG Optimus One P500 with Gingerbread 2.3.4 Firmware:
- Before proceeding, download the LG Optimus One P500 Gingerbread 2.3.4 Package from here to your computer. After this, connect the phone to the computer using the USB Cable which you got at the time of purchase. Note that after downloading the same in your computer you should not unzip the same or modify / rename the files or else there is a high probability that you may end up with issues in updating as the file may not be recognized.
- After this you need to follow the instructions which are mentioned below so that you can root and install the Custom Recovery image in your LG Optimus One P500. Without following the instructions which are mentioned in the below link, its not recommended to proceed to the next step.
Procedure to Root and Install Custom Recovery Image in LG Optimus One P500
- After this you need to remove the connected USB cable and then download the ROM Manager application from the Android Market Place or from Android Apps Labs and install the same.
- Open the ROM Manager and you will find an option called “Backup and Restore” and then choose “Backup Current ROM” after which the image of the current firmware will be backed up and then proceed to the next step.
- Once the ROM is backed up, you now need to proceed to turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode.
- The recovery mode in the LG Optimus One P500 can be entered by pressing the “Volume Down + menu Key and then simultaneously press the Power button to turn ON the device in the Recovery mode”. Please note that if the device boots in the normal mode then you need to try again to enter into the recovery mode.
- Now, once you get into the recovery mode you will then need to proceed to clear the cache which is there in your phone. One can clear the cache by selecting the option of “Wipe” or “Wipe Cache Data”. Once you do the same you will again land up on the recovery mode screen after clearing the cache.
- After this with the help of Volume buttons, select the option of “Flash Zip from sd card” by pressing the Power button and select the file which is named as “LGOptimusONE_P500_2.3.4.zip”.
- Once you select this file, you will see that the process of firmware update will be commenced and after around less than 5 minutes the process will be finished.
- Once the firmware is applied successfully, you will either see that device will be restarted automatically or will again land up in the recovery mode page itself. If you again come back to the Recovery page, you need to select either “Power Off” or can select “reboot system now” as per the options which you can see on the screen. If you have chosen the “Power off” then you need to turn the device ON after that manually by pressing the Power button.
So there you go, you have now successfully applied this latest version of Gingerbread 2.3.4 version in your phone. Do let us know just in case if you face any issues in the comments section below as we will try our level best to sort out the same at the earliest.

Hi, with LG Optimus One, i can’t seem to set up the internet connection without using wi-fi. I have tried but it wont let me use the internet just using the internet app. So if i am not where there is wi-fi connection i cant get onto the net which is very annoying…could i please get some help on how to do this please, doesn’t seem to show on the manual that you get with the phone….thanks

Last night i tried to flash my stock ROM gingerbread after rooting and installing flash work mod recovery. Custom ROM 2.3.4 was installed but there was no gsm signal at all. What shall i do. I’ve restored it back to stick ROM. Waiting for your reply

After I followed the above procedure, twice the app got stuck at the welcome screen. I could see some flash objects moving here and there…and then…bang….the phone screen got stuck……..I removed by battery twice and inserted…both the times the same screen appears and stops at a point…phone not working

I afollowed the tut and upgraded to Android 2.3.3, however, I was schoked to find that the device in unable to read / write Arabic lang and came to notice that it’s sorted in 2.3.4, but the procdure it’s too lenghtly and I’m afraid to brick my mobile.
Question is, can I downgrade to Android 2.2, is there any tut availbe?

You can again go back to the downloads mode and start off the installation process. First ensure you have battery backup on your device.

followed instructions and stops halfway through colourfull start up display, same as others anyone got solution? does say boot fail before going into startup but tries. using 2.3.3 v20e open europe? with virgin flash display, dont know whats open about it.

anyone who cant get phone working again you will have to reinstall the original firmware using, pc usb lead and phone + KDZ updater software, i really wanted a flash of 2.3.4 to use KDZ but none around. i dont think all phones can be updated because of the phone shop who sold you the phone like carphone warehouse they have locked codes built in that you cant get rid of? i can only put v20e or v20b on my lgp500 none of the others work dont know why.

This is the correct way to install a Rom to make it work, first you have to have v20? Installed and phone rooted make back up, i used Rom Manager get it from market really easy to use. When you have done all this follow these instructions exactly.
Reboot Into Recovery and wipe Cache
Then Wipe/Data/factory Reset
And finally go to mounts and Storage-> Format System
Now come back and Say Install Zip from SDCARD
Choose the Zip
IT will do the update and say Process Complete
Then go back to Reboot Your Phone
this is the correct way to get zipped versions of 2.3.4 or 2.3.7 working

I have tried all the procedures and it successfully installed gingerbread 2.3.4 but i don’t get any signal and it keeps on showing no service on my LG-P500 phone…

I tried really hard to get my O.S upgraded to 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 but every time i click “BACKUP CURRENT ROM” option , a msg saying (you must root your phone for manager to function. Superuser was not found at “/system/bin/su” or “/system/xbin/su} is displayed ……. N if i do proceed further it say’s Install d recovery trugh ROM manager first ……. N asks for wi-fi connetivity.
Plzzzzzzzzzzz Help me out of this coz i have already wasted 3 hours but yet not able to resolve this prob :’(

Getting various error messages when it reboots in recovery mode. Latest is SD card marker not found. The try again from the recovery mode – can’t open the file (bad). Have downloaded various versions of LGOptimusONE_P500_2.3.4.zip. Once it didn’t give the bad message, but aborted on something else. Also instructions here are not clear – the terminal with adb shell?
