How to Update LG Optimus One P500 with Official Gingerbread 2.3.3 V20G Firmware

LG Optimus One LogoLG Optimus One P500 smartphone can now be loaded with the latest and official V20G version of Gingerbread 2.3.3 firmware. Please note that in the earlier build for installing the Cyanogen Mod custom ROM firmware one had to be on this V20G 2.3.3 Gingerbread firmware and for all those who are on some other firmware can apply this update. Just in case if you are on V20B or V20C or say on any of the custom Rom firmware you are not happy with, then you can apply this Official firmware.

Over a period of this article we will be checking out a detailed guide on how to apply this firmware but before that you need to go through the list of pre requisites.

Rooting Info: Applying this update will in no manner be rooting your LG Optimus One. Just in case if your device is pre rooted then after applying this V20G update, the root access will get revoked. If you wished to root your Optimus One P500 on 2.3.3 V20G firmware, then we will try our level best to come up with the rooting article.


Essential Pre Requisites:

  • It’s highly recommended to back up the data with the help of below mentioned manual steps so that if the data in your device gets wiped off then the same can be restored manually. Also, a local copy will be stored in your phone.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log –Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Up next, charge left in your Optimus One P500 should be a minimum of 50% so as to make sure that it doesn’t turn Off in the middle of firmware update. Enable the USB Debugging in your device from the Development tools section in Settings so as to connect your device with the computer.  Also, full USB rights should be there along with the ADMIN rights in your computer.

    my phone wont turn up anymore all i get is the android android loading page. have tried the process for three times and tried the home plus volume plus power it still wont work, what can i do

      enter your device into the recovery mode and clear or wipe all the data

      i have the same problem, but when i follow the kannanmdu says:

      Press the “Home+VolumeUP+Power button”, you will get a menu in which select the “wipe all data” and your phone will reboot
      now working ok

    i just updated my phone with android 2.3…but the lg home was not responding…i am using the home screen only with the launcher…is ther any possible way to overcome this….

      you can remove the launcher from manage applications

    I solved this problem by doing the following

    Press the “Home+VolumeUP+Power button”, you will get a menu in which select the “wipe all data” and your phone will reboot

    But all your data will be lost

    wow…nice tutorial 🙂 it really helped to update my device….but pop up saying to subscribe in mail is really annoying 🙁 otherwise quality of site is very nice 🙂
