Do i need to Root my Phone before i update with this firmware?
The answer is “NO” as rooting is different from the firmware update. Rooting basically opens up the device with which you can even access the system level files which cannot be done in a non-rooted phone. This firmware update doesn’t require you to root your phone before you proceed for the firmware update. Another thing is that if you have already rooted your phone before then after applying this firmware the root access will be revoked and then again you will have to root your device to get the root access.
Rooting is not the one which is same as the Updating the firmware as both are totally different things. The firmware which we will be seeing is the Stock Beta ROM and are the leaks for the Official ROMs and not like the ones like Cyanogen or other Private ROMs for Galaxy S 4G.

I just installed this and it said 2.3.3………….not 2.3.4!
Ummm…it has been almost a half hour and the process seemed to just stop.
Don’t do it unless you want your WIFI to constantly cut out. It’s 2.3.3. Thanks a lot.
thanks alex for the tip!
Hi, I have the Samsung Galaxy S T959V, will this work 2.3.3 should it be the 2.3.4??
no, this will work for your device! Go ahead its safe to update!
The update will work, but 2.3.3 has several bugs (battery drainage, MAJOR wifi issues). I don’t recommend flashing this update.
what issues you are facing?
Oh found a REAL
download link:
btw this is the pda file, it may take awile to flash (like 5 min) and your phone screen should look like its running a script about half way through.
here is a list of other fw’s from krylon360 for sgs 4g too
dose this work with T-Mobile sgs 4g?
no, it will not be working!
ok i got it on fine no problems but now i cant root it wont go in too debug mod for usb

download 2.3.4 from somewhere else don’t use neals. SECOND USE ODIN AND LOAD THAT REAL FRESH 2.3.4 TO ODIN UNDER PDA. MAKE SURE REPARTITION IS UNCHECKED. YOU ONLY NEED THAT 2.3.4 FILE. SOMETIMES U NEED TO RENAME THAT FILE SOMETIMES YOU DON’T. PLUG YOUR PHONE IN DOWNLOAD MODE CLICK START AND YOUR DONE. MY PHONE SHOWED 2.3.4. THIS FIXES BLUETOOTH WIFI AND ALL OTHER ISSUES WITH THE PREVIOUS 2.3.3.
were did you download you 2.3.4
@jack im not finding the update too 2.3.4
Hey Guys,
Neal has been very helpful in getting us slackers updates for Android. Cut him some slack. Myself and many others have been able to learn a lot through Neal. Before picking up on him just know that Samsung Support has been nothing to Zero to help with updates, specially their Kies Software which normally works only on specific hardware’s. Neal has also been warning us that if we don’t follow the procedure we can end up bricking the phone, so Read the Instructions carefully and do it accordingly.
Neal, You Rock.
2.3.4 just google it I think it led me to xda developers site forum. I know you use odin and it comes with some voodoo lag fix thing that allows your phone to run faster than before. My phones benchmark reached around 1950 faster than nexus s.You can also root it too. Neal is great help but he makes mistakes sometimes, and he doesn’t realize it or it takes a while. I learned a lot from Neal but at the same time his firmwares have a lot of bugs in it. As for the wifi its the same for all 2.3.4 versions. you may notice 2 or 1 bars but its still same performance. Wiifii has many variables to it so you cant really complain about bar or signal strength, its just inaccurate.
