How to Update Samsung Galaxy 551 I5510 to XWKPH 2.3.6 Firmware
Previously we have seen various firmware versions for your Galaxy 551 I5510 mobiles like XWKPG, XWKPB, XWKP5 etc. Now, we bought you the all new latest version of XWKPH 2.3.6 Gingerbread firmware. This latest firmware was released in Hungary and so all the European users of this mobile can make their mobiles run on this latest firmware version. So, we request all the other users, no to try this firmware update as there is a high chance of device damage.

hello! thanks for this easy update, I had no problem in updating the os.
I have a question, I bought my samsung 551 but it came with the AZERTY keyboard (the french one) instead of the normal QWERTY one, I did the update and now my keyboard does not works as it should, the letters are changed and when I press the letter a it comes instead the letter q, and so on with so many letters the letter “m” is in the place of “,” so you can imagine what a mess it is…
I hope you can help me. I did this update since the phone came with so many useless apps that only worked with the french operator (ORANGE) and only occupied space and making annoying errors notifications constantly.

To root your Galaxy 551 on android 2.3.6 follow the below instructions
1. First download the Root.zip from the below link

2. after download unzip it in that you’ll get another root.zip copy to your SD Card
3. reboot in recovery with T+power .
4. Using Volume key as up down Select update from sdcard and then select Root.zip
5. Reboot in normal mode
that’s all you have root!!

Thnx guys for such a wonderful update for my mobile….. i have been looking forward to this for a long time…… however i do have one problem with this that you posted the update files(ODIN) for computer on hotfile which gives you only one download file in 30mins…. i have frequent download interrupts over my connection and so it took me all of a day of retries after i could finally download the thing…… other than that everything is just excellent…..

to restore you need to make a note of your current version from “About Phone”

minor bug i have found – after using headphones to listen to music the speaker on the phone does not come back on when you remove the headphones. You have to reboot the phone. A bit annoying.
I think That is a Standard Android Feature..

Yes dude…i have got same problem…Rest is all good…Do you find anything about it? Its not about just music player its that even your regular speaker does not work…

few questions here because I can’t see major change in user interface after update.
1.There is no native sip client available in settings.
2. Can you tell me what changes I can expect after this update?
Also tell me what is the impact if I didn’t go in to recovery mode as per the document and still its has been updated so what is the significance of Recovery mode
Please stick to the instructions! without recovery you cannot apply the update!
Hello! The update worked well for me, except for one very minor annoyance:
on my physical keyboard, the letters “G” and “H” are supposed to type “%” and “^” respectively, when holding down “ALT”…
instead, when i press them i get “€”(for “G”) and “%” (for “H”). any fixes to this?

oh i just wanted to add that the ‘.’ (period) key also doesnt give the proper ‘alt’ function. when pressing alt, the ‘.’ key should become ‘.com’ but instead it becomes ‘ ” ‘ (double quotation marks). just wanted to add this to my post already.

my phone i-5510 is not going in downloading mod or in recovery mod and now it is not even starting normally i have installed ROM manager from android market since it was not going in recovery mod and i select clockwork-mod recovery but after selecting it just turned off and now it is not starting again so please kindly suggest me what should i do?

After upgradation:
1.Will I be able to make Skype Video call (As 2.3 GingerBread supports Video calling)
2.Will the battery back-up improve (as GingerBread claims to comsume less batery)
3.If i face any proble with my device after upgradation will I be able to downgrade it back to its original OS (2.2 Froyo)? if yes, how?

I had installed E2 energy saver app for my Samsung galaxy i5510 with XWKPG 2.3.6 android firmware. Due to that there was issue with the cell vibrator. the vibrator has gone weak.. I uninstalled the application, but still the vibrator has gone weak. It vibrates inconsistently.
I have even done my part to set the Vibrator to Always setting from Sound Setting; but no avail.
can someone help me ASAP please ? missing calls due to this issue when kept on silent/vibrator mode during office hours !
just visit the Samsung Service centre to get this fixed as this seems to be a hardware issue

I have downloaded dis firmware I5510XWKPH from samfirmware. And it contains boot.img and arm11boot, is it safe to flash this files or should i remove it.
My power key does not work at all, instead, on pressing the home key it comes up with those 3 options of turn off, airplane mode and silent mode. Also there is no other key through which I can use the functions of a home key.
In such a situation can you please help me in entering the download mode without power key working. I’ve even tried pressing the home key and Q, still nothing happens, instead google search comes up with infinite Qs in its query box.
Please help me.
