        Hi,

Yes I have cleared the cache with still not a lot of change. I will check the version later but it is the UK Kies update if that helps. I have got a galaxy S and have applied Voodoo patch which was brilliant. Was just wondering whether there was anything similar??

        • http://twitter.com/pradeepneela NeaL Pradeep

          similar?

        • ben

  • Ben

    Hi,

I am trying to update my wifes i5800 which is currently on Kies Froyo 2.2. The phone suffers from terrible lagging and I thought that this update may help with this. I have used your site before whilst updating my Galaxy S and found the instructions brilliant but I am having difficulties following the i5800 ones. Firstly, the ODIN software was not included in the zip file although I have since obtained it from the i5801 zip file which I presume is the same. The other issue I have is just one tar file is downloaded to put in the PDA option. Should I be using the OPS 531 file that is used in other updates and should I use any other files that are not included such as BOOT,PHONE and CSC files? I have read all comments and you have replied to one saying that a OPS file should be used?? Please can you help

Also, are you aware of any simple fixes that can help with the phones lagging?

Thank you in advance for your help

    Ben

    • http://twitter.com/pradeepneela NeaL Pradeep

as mentioned in the instructions follow the same as if you skip any instructions then it will be difficult for us to identify the problem!

      • Ben

Can you just confirm, are you saying only use the “one” tar file included in the download and no other file? I am only saying this because of your reply to shamell on the 3rd July saying that a OPS file should be used??

        • http://twitter.com/pradeepneela NeaL Pradeep

it can on cannot be used, its not a compulsion!

  • raj

I am owner of SAMSUNG GALAXY 3 APOLLO GT-I5801. I upgraded my device to Android 2.2 Froyo by authorised service centre 2 times. But each time, my Android internet browser as well as any other browser like Skyfire, Opera Mobile, Dolphin and Miren are unable to show plugin content even after enabling plugin content in settings. For example, could not be viewed with animated content after Froyo upgrade. With Android 2.1 Eclair, these websites were easily viewed with animated content after enabling plugin content in settings in Android browser. Most of the websites and links in them now could not be opened after froyo upgrade. All this was perfectly working in Android 2.1 Eclair. In Froyo, while browsing internet websites, a blue coloured box with question mark sign appears in place of plugin content which is annoying. Kindly help me by providing a proper solution.

Hi all, I’ve already flashed my phone with this firmware, sadly, there was no Samsung OPS file included as well as Odin, luckily I managed to use the one I’ve downloaded for previous firmwares. To date, I’ve already flashed quite number of times with different firmwares. So my question here, without the OPS file, can Odin proceed to install the new firmware? As what I managed to flash, i used the OPS file to get it working.

    • http://twitter.com/pradeepneela Neal Pradeep

without ops file there are chances of bricking the phone

  • Pete

Could you please say wether this also applies to the I5801,I understand that there are minor internal differences from the 5800 . Mant thanks.

    • http://twitter.com/pradeepneela Neal Pradeep

no 5800 and 5801 are different handsets, we wil soon come out with an article for 5801 model too!

  • Chris

    Slaps myself in the face.

Actually thought reading the headline, the company officially released the update promised October of last year.

I do not mean to be rude, but there is nothing new in these un-official firmwares. There is a couple of problems with these versions which are buggy/iffy such as the gps.

Also It’s fine to flash the firmware on a locked network, I did it and now I am happy as Larry. Can use my fone with any simcard, on any network, with the benefit of being able to get on domestic phone data packages no matter which country I visit.

I suggest people use a cleaned ROM without all that unnecessary clutter which it comes with. Benefits include far more free memory for applications to use (massive difference), faster, much more free space on the application volume, went from 120mb to 2mb. So if you find you’re running out of memory or application space, do find a good cleaned rom.

My phone runs faster, more functional, looks better than when I got it.
