How To Update Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 with Ice Cream Sandwich Candy Amestris 5.1 Custom ROM
It’s on October 19 2011 when Google will be taking Off the curtains from the much awaited Ice Cream Sandwich, the next biggest release in Android after the last Honeycomb version, but in this article we will see for all the Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 users on how you can make use of the special edition Ice Cream Sandwich Candy custom ROM for your phone which is nothing but an advanced version of Amestris ROM. Please don’t get mistaken by the name as it’s somewhat similar to the name of the Ice cream Sandwich for Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 but it’s actually not. So, this custom ROM comes along with humongous number of advancements which we will see in the due course of this article. By 4 buttons do you mean that 4 options in the recovery mode? If your phone is on a stock ROM perhaps you will see 4 options, then go to ‘advanced’ there you can see the option ‘install zip from the sd card’ and ‘choose zip from the sd card’. You can use volume button to go up and down, home button or sometimes power button to enter.

Anyways, the only prob, YOU TUBE does not work, It does open but whenever you play any video, it plays back just one video and i do not know WHY IS THIS.

I have thrown Kies out the window less than a month after i started using my SGS. I transfer my contacts into gmail and every time after i changed the ROM, the phone just sync to gmail and download all my contacts again. no problem at all. I have also tried android wifi sync manager to backup my contacts successfully, but i have to admit that i have not tried to restore my contacts from wifi sync manager. I mainly use wifi sync manager to backup my sms, it can also backup pics, video and music.

1) What’s going on with the Home-button ?
2) How come many cannot receive incoming calls ?
3) Why are many people having issues with downloading off Market ?
What are the resolutions with all these issues?

thank you for the nice ROM. but after installing this ROM my friends complaints that, call gets disconnnected within 3 rings itself and yes I get only 3 rings for any incoming calls. kindly look into this issue.

I updated this ROM.But as mentioned Ice cream sandwich candy, there is no such apps or functions which is similar to ice cream sandwich. This update is very much similar to the older version of Amestris ROM. Three or four Apps are included in this.

Hi, updated and all went well, but I can’t seem to add any other email settings but exchange or gmail and as I have another email service provider, it’s a poinI can’t set it up. what am I doing wrong….
Actually I figured it out….
open your exchange account settings (not sure what to do if you don’t have one…)
menu, accounts, menu, add accounts…
add your email address and password, hay presto new account created and sync’ed.
seems weriod, 2.3.5 and eariler of course this was done from the add account screen

The update works well for me but this new ROM looks slower than the 2.3.5 version.
you must delete data and cache in cwm after flashing ROM. I had problem receive calls and market problem but after i reflash and delete data factory reset, everything works, nice ROM, thanks

Sir..I am not able to make my mobile a wifi hotspot…when i was using android gingerbread 2.3.4 XXJVQ stock version i had no problem in tethering..now when i click on mobile AP it is showing “error”.Please help to fix this problem. and i request to add double security pattern for this ice cream candy.Please help me as soon as possible..Thanks…If you cant ..atleast tell me the version which i should degrade to..

no you can install either custom roms or stock roms!
Gud job.. everything is working fine, its just that my google voice search plugin is not working n after many tries of getting it to work its service got stuck i had to reflash it again by ur rom is there any limitation to this rom ???? involving google voice search(btw market says that voice search is not supported on my fone but on previous version i was easily been able to use it).

call gets stuck in middle..sometimes when incomming call comes screen doesnt lightup and doesnt respond then i have to restart the phone.

you cannot apply I9000 procedures to I9003 as both are different phones!

yes you can use tethering but tethering depends on your operator as some operator doesnt allow tethering!
