Galaxy SL I9003

How To Update Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 with Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 Alpha Firmware

Quick Pre Upgrade Instructions:

  • First up you will have to charge your phone to a minimum of 60% so as to ensure that the phone doesn’t get turned Off in the process of firmware update.
  • Backup all your data as this is the Alpha built of ICS 4.0 and most of the functionalities doesn’t work, the data will be lost. With the help of below mentioned tips you can back up all your data which is there in your phone. Also, remove the Sim card from your phone so that the data in the sim memory is kept safe.

Notes – Backup in the mail so that you can then restore manually
SMS Messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts Stored in Phone MemorySync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Videos, Images, Videos & Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”.

  • Enable the USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”. Close / disable all the Antivirus, Firewall and PC suites like KIES in your computer or else these tools will interrupt the process of firmware update.
  • Just in case if you are on the custom ROM then you will have to get into the recovery mode first and then you need to select the options like Wipe Cache partition and Wipe Data as after doing this you will see that all the cache data will be deleted. Also, just in case if the Voodoo components are installed then you need to disable the same from the “advanced” option in recovery mode.

USB Debugging

Let’s proceed to the next page where we will see on how you can install this all new firmware of ICS.

    Dear Neal,

I have updated Gingerbread.DDKP2 firmware version 2.3.6 on my Samsung Galaxy i9003 using Samsung KIES. Since last few days, it automatically goes into a restart loop on daily basis and does’t come to home screen till the time I hold the power on key for some time. And everytime it happens, the messages, concacts, call logs, etc. get erased.

Please help me to trace the issue and resolution thereof.

    Thanks n regards,

    Gulshan

If answer is yes than i see a point in upgrading to ICS 4.0. Please revert me back.

Why new Custom Rom doesn’t work for my i9003 ?

After i install “ice_cream_sandwich_sdk_build_firstbootable.zip” from SDcard, my device keep stucking at “samsung” logo and never boot into main screen. Can you help me?

This is the step i did:
    1) Put the “ice_cream_sandwich_sdk_build_firstbootable.zip” file into SDcard
    2) go to Rom Manager > Flash into recovery mode (i choose i9000)
    3) do nandroid backup & titanium backup
    4) boot into recovery mode, select install zip. from SDcard.
    5) choose zip from SDcard then install

After that the message show bellow>

    Finding update package…
    Verifing update package…
E.Failed to verify the whole-file sygnature
    E:signature verification failed
    Instalation aborted.

    Then i choose
    toggle signature verification
    change from “enable” to “disable”
install zip. again message shown installation completed
wide dalvik cache in recovery mode,
    After that, reboot system.

Once i reboot, i found out that my phone stuck in the “Samsung” logo… God, please help me !!
Currently my phone have been restart many time and flash so many time, i just want to get simple custom rom only. Amen…
