Users of Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 are very disappointed as the users of Xperia X10 are still awaiting the arrival of Froyo 2.2 version for their devices. But thankfully the developers have cracked in and have roped in the Froyo version of operating system for Xperia X10. Developers have bought in the custom ROM of Froyo build for Xperia X10. So, let’s check out how you can install Froyo 2.2 version on your Xperia X10. Before you update your device with the new custom ROM ensure that you have created a back up of all your contents including contacts, messages and applications as in an unlikely event you will lose data in your phone.
Also, please note that this build is still in the development stage and only you need to proceed to flash if your device is unlocked and currently should have Android 2.1 Eclair rooted before flashing this custom ROM. Since, it’s not a final version of the firmware, a few crashes. The name of this ROM is FreeX10 and the same can be flashed using the xRecovery. It’s highly important to follow the procedure mentioned below as it is as if not followed properly then it you may end up bricking your device or in short it will become useless.
Before we proceed for the procedure to flash Xperia x10 with Froyo 2.2 version, make sure that you have currently rooted your Xperia X10 (2.1) and also installed the custom recovery for X10 which is xRecovery installed on your device.
Procedure to flash Froyo 2.2 on Sony Ericsson Xperia 10:
- First, you need to download the Google Apps Freex10 gapps and also the Free X10 Beta ROM on your computer.
- After downloading both the above mentioned files, you need to then copy and paste the download custom ROM and Google Apps package into your device’s internal SD Card.
- So, now after placing the two files, you need to first launch xRecovery, if you don’t have this file then you can xRecovery-0.2-release and install the same on your device. Its very important to install this xRecovery on your SE Xperia X10.
- So, now after placing the two files, you need to first launch xRecovery and after restarting the device, you can now flash the copied Google Apps Package for getting Market, You Tube, Gmail and other system applications.
