How to Update Vibrant T959 with Jellybean 4.1 based Cyanogen Mod 10 Firmware
Finally Cyanogen Mod 10 arrives in style as it’s now available for a handful of devices and in the coming days we will be checking out for all the devices for which this CM10 has been rolled out. In the due course of this article we will be checking out on how to apply this Jellybean 4.1 based firmware in your Samsung Vibrant T959. Jellybean 4.1 is not only faster than all other previous builds but also comes along with many added features. So, in a nutshell, it will be more faster, smoother performance, new keyboard and also supports added functionalities. Unfortunately, Samsung Vibrant T959 won’t be getting the Jellybean 4.1 update officially and Cyanogen developers have come up with first 4.1 based ROM.
Since this is the early build, there will be some bugs but as in when the bugs are reported / found, the same will be worked upon and the new updates will be released. For applying this update, you need to ensure that your phone is rooted and installed with the custom recovery image. To check on whether the device has been rooted or not, download “Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store and check the same whether the device has been rooted or not.

What Doesn’t Work
- Boot animations may freeze and loop, but the device does boot!
- Mounting of external sd card to computer (??)
- Google sound recognition (for indentifying music)

Data in your Samsung Vibrant T959 should be backed up so that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps. Don’t use the PC Suite tools to back up the data or else the data may get lost.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log -Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Minimum battery charge should be 50% plus so as to make sure that the Samsung Vibrant T959 doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update. Also, enable the USB debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.
