Verizon LTE Motorola Xoom 4G Gets HLK75H Update – No ICS Yet

It looks like Verizon is busy updating their existing smartphones with Android update to them. Though Verizon didn’t release out Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to many smartphones, these are minor update to Android 2.3.6 for Motorola Droid Razr and Razr Maxx spotted a day back. Today Verizon Wireless announced the update to pure Google tablet called Motorola Xoom 4G LTE version enabled tablet sold on the Verizon Wireless.

So what does that means? Its clearly that Android 4.0 update to Motorola Xoom 4G LTE version for the Verizon users will now can easily take a month time. Many of the Xoom 4G LTE customers have received a notification from Verizon that the update to HLK75H is available to them.

Improvements & Enhancements

The following are the improvements and enhancements added in this firmware update –

  • With this firmware update on your XOOM 4G LTE tablet; it will support dual International Mobile Subscriber Identities to provide international travel to the mobile users.
  • Data connectivity will be working fine after switch back from Airplane Mode.

Installing Update Over The Air

Since this is your Motorola Xoom which is powered with 4G LTE higher speed download, it will take a maximum of 10 minutes to complete this update. This update is via over the air. The software update file is rather very small too, it’s approximately 12 MB in size. But before proceeding with the upgrade, I would suggest you to back important things which you might lose during the installation of this firmware. For the files on the internal storage and external storage will stay intact but for the files present on the phone memory will be lost.

If you have been notified for the update available on your table, then pull down that notifications and tap on Install button on your device. The tablet will power off after you hit Install now button and it will be under download mode where all the required files for flashing will be downloaded. Once the files are downloaded you will get the following screen with options of Install Now, Install latter and more info option. Users who have selected Install latter option as they want to back up the files, then can initiate the process by manually updating with the firmware by going through Settings > About tablet and then tap on System update.

Tap on Install Now, it will automatically install the updates. If you tap on Install latter it will delay the installation to future update whenever you want it.

When the installation of the file is finished, your device will be powered off and it will reboot again returning to home screen.

To check back the Android version on your tablet you need to go to Settings > About tablet, it will display the Android version and the built number.
